I have to mention that Mia Wasikowska who was Alice in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland is from my home city of Canberra. In fact she attended the school that my husband taught at.
She was great as Jane in Jane Eyre too.
Was also Sophie in In Treatment.
She chose not to get too involved in Hollywood.
Cool! I looked her up. She’s beautiful!
She was also named in the TIME 100 list of the world’s most influential people in 2011.
🤩 Wow! I thought she was great in Jane Eyre … it’s a fantastic book, too. Speaking of Eyre … there’s a hilarious science-fictiony mystery book I loved called The Eyre Affair.

Months have gone by, and I just put together: Ms. Chief with Mischief.
Mind like a steal trap. (Rusty.)
I think she’s sisters with Ms. Demeanor and Ms. Adventure!
😜
Sometimes on this forum, you are called “chief” so for a while I thought it might just be your wife.
You must have been distracted; steel traps are rarely rusted … stolen ones on the other hand 😆

I had forgotten. I have no idea why I played aster that day. But I’m glad I did!

It’s not nice and neat like yours—but I forgot how to do that. Or maybe I can’t here. 🤔

I went down the rabbit hole looking for a burner for 7 possible answers and never found one. Dimly would get it down to Filmy or Milky. Also, Dimly is the most commonly used of the 3 words at 2 occurrences per million words, as in “I was only dimly aware of the passage of the last 2 hours as I struggled to find today’s answer! ” Feeling thankful for a 3.🙂

Thanks for your comment. I did make blueberry scones a couple of weeks ago and put some in the freezer. I had one recently with a cup of blueberry lavender tea; like a reward for my early morning Wordling! 🙂

Mad Hatter Day! 🎩☕
“Mad as a hatter” comes from 19th-century hat makers who got mercury poisoning from their trade. The date 10/6 represents the 10 shillings and 6 pence price tag on the Mad Hatter’s top hat in Alice in Wonderland. 🐇

Your broken 🧠 has me wanting to make some of Grandma Rose’s Dilly Bread. 😋
That sounds amazing! Do you have the recipe? 😋
😲 I had a Grandma Rose, too! Mine had a heavy German accent, played euchre, and watched all-star wrestling. 😝 🤼
My Rose was also German🇩🇪, but born on the Nebraska 🌽 prairie so she talked like a Midwesterner. As a grandmother 👵🏻, she was sweet as molasses. As a farmwife 🚜👰🏻, she was tough as nails and could butcher a chicken 🐓 and fit it in an empty milk carton faster than any Top Chef competitor. Her guilty pleasure was the tabloids🗞️, and I never saw her play any kind of game. She was a great cook, but damn, that woman could bake! Her pie crust and cinnamon rolls were legendary. Dilly Bread is a favorite because even a mediocre baker like myself can perfect it, I just have to force myself not to eat the whole loaf straight out of the oven! I prepare it in Mom’s 10” PYREX Autumn Harvest mixing bowl. Let me know how it turns out!
Grandma Rose’s Dilly Bread
————————————————
1 pkg. yeast
¼ C warm water
1 C l arge curd cottage cheese
1 T dried minced onion
2 T sugar
1 T shortening
2 T dill seed
1 t salt
¼ t baking soda
1 egg
2¼ to 2½ C AP flour
In small bowl, sprinkle yeast over warm water, set aside. Heat cottage cheese to warm. In large mixing bowl combine cottage cheese, onion, sugar, shortening, dill, soda, salt, eggs, and yeast mixture, beating well after each addition. Add flour to form a stiff dough. Cover; let rise until doubled. Punch and rise again. Preheat oven to 350°. Bake in oven-proof bowl for 40 minutes. Serve warm with butter.
Added recipe to my recipe files. I assumed dill weed, but this is the seed! Sounds amazing! Thanks, Kim🐸!
You’re very welcome, 🥸Christine! Yeah, it’s the only reason I keep dill seed on my spice rack. Can’t wait to hear what you think. 😋
A long time ago we typed these from newspaper clippings into a HyperCard stack… then imported into a Movable Type site… then WordPress.

Oh yeah! I remember looking through those. I love recipes. I think a few of us had a FFAP discussion several months ago about our respective recipe storage techniques. Mine are in a FileMaker database I started about 30 years ago.

RAISE leaves 36 OG NU words.
I in the wrong position is the worst pattern for RAISE.
HOTLY is the best burner word for this one. Y-15, T-13, L-12, O-10 letters present.
HOTLY left the worst case which is 5 words.
BILLY, DILLY, DIMLY, IMPLY, WILLY.
I went with DIMLY due to D1 and the M.
Worst case, it is BILLY or WILLY.
Lucky for me DIMLY was correct.
Glad to cross a word off this list!
The Mad Hatter jumps off a small hill. He is excited to say something to Alice!
I went looking for a Mad Hatter quote and couldn’t find anything familiar. He wasn’t pithy.
🙋🏼♀️ If your looking for non-pithy, I’ve got you covered.
Ironically, that was pretty pithy funny on non-pithy. 🙂

Love the HAIKUs! Keep them coming.
I fell foul of AI’s excessive “helpfulness” today.
I searched for “Is ***** a Wordle word today?”. It wasn’t but their reply included the answer and it was “Game Over” for me today.
I’ll never put the word “today” in the question again!
I
was nearly there (in line 5!) after AROSE / UNITY / PICKY / GIDDY – looking for a pu!
Congratulations to Judy S, always an impressive AROSEr but today a total champ!
Elementary error, never (?!) to be repeated.
That happened to me once. You have to be careful researching Wordle with AI.
Gemini gave me the answer one time even after I asked not to.
Then you have yo play Wordle like you don’t know the answer, and it’s surprisingly hard to do.
Yikes! 😬 I often use ai to alphabetize or organize my lists and I’m ALWAYS afraid of a spoiler, even though I spell it out in detail to not give me a spoiler. AI is awful & it’s very sad it ruined your game today, but don’t let it ruin your streak. (Unless u don’t care about that.)
I’ve gotten spoilers from simple Google searches before.
Now, when checking for spelling, or if something is even a word, I use Ecosia and always search with ‘Definition …..’.
Always rough to get a game spoiled.
