Hi Jeb – this may have already been mooted, but a little symbol (red + ?) beside the adds – to help track frequency, like the repeats, would be lovely π€©

PUPPY is out of place in the Block List.

Hi, the word you entered for 10 July is wrong. It was cabal, not canal.
-
Thanks for the feedback, Leah. Looking at the July 10 “After Party” where people share their solves (and based on my own solve) it was “canal”. The funny thing is, I thought I had screwed up (I do that) and you were right because I had considered “cabal”.
https://www.fiveforks.com/wordle/daily/1847-fri-07-10-2026/
I also cross-referenced Reddit’s daily:
https://www.reddit.com/r/wordle/comments/1urltxf/daily_wordle_1847_friday_10_jul_2026/-
Ok now I’m confused as my mum and I both remember it being cabal! We must both be remembering wrong!
-
Well, we do have to deal with time zones, hemispheres, and alternate universes. To quote Billy Joel:
“You may be wrong, for all I know
But you may be right”

2 days in a row (July 20th and July 21st ) the wrong hints were given…
-
Not sure what you mean, Connie. The main and block lists do not give hints. It only reports past answers.
The “After Party” is a place on the site where people discuss Today’s answer, but it should only be visited after playing.
Can you provide more information? Thanks!

Jeb — I read the comments (a couple of days late) about PSHAW. I know what a REPEAT is, but what is an ADD?
-
Susan, There are two lists with Wordle: The much larger allowed guesses (about 12,000) and then the smaller list of common, non-plural, non-past words that are answer candidates (about 3,000). The NYT Wordle editors have added some words to the shorter list over time. I do not monitor the “ADD” list and don’t know how, but others monitor them. My publication rule for Five Forks Wordle is past information only, not future. (No spoiling, peeking.) But there are no real rules to the game, so people use all kinds of tools in playing because it’s fun! Thanks for asking!

-
Jeb,
In your alphabetical list you have”novel” before “notch” (In your Block List they are correctly sequenced.)-
Thanks Don. Too much TV thinking…
-
-
The “New” solution count is still one day light, which makes a marginal difference to the repeat percentage:
27 + 31 + 30 + 31 + 30 + 4 – 17 = 136
-
Mark,
I got behind one day in my cross-country road trip from Georgia to Idaho. I think I’m caught up on the repeat stats. Let me know. Thanks!-
Thanks for responding, Jeb.
I think that we are still a day light, most likely in the “New” count, as I count 17 repeats through Thursday’s puzzle.
If you add up the number of days from Groundhog Day through July 9th inclusive (Friday’s update), you get 158:
27 + 31 + 30 + 31 + 30 + 9 = 158
But the “New” count (140) and “Repeat” count (17) in that update add up to 157.
M
-
I checked your math and then incremented new by 1. Thanks for keeping me straight!
-
Hooray! Thanks, Jeb.
Of course, we didn’t have to rely on maths. We just had to scan the list of solutions from 2/2 onwards and count the New and Repeat solutions to get to the correct counts.
I’ve just done that twice using your 21/7 update (with solutions through 20/7), and I came up with 151 New and 18 Repeat.

In the After Party, is there a way to put those blue triangles to the side of each top level comment (or wherever) to make it easier to jump back to the top of the page?
Also, I saw that JD changed his avatar. I have searched everywhere but can’t figure out how to do that. I wanna!
-
Hi Jeb,
I commented about this on the 16th and the 24th.
The total of new and repeated solutions is still short by one day, which affects your percentages.
27 + 31+ 30 + 31 + 28 = 147
130 + 16 = 146

In the alphabetical list, the number for SEPIA is incorrect: It should be 1821 instead of 1820.

jeb:
not sure why it happened but i noticed that your comment on june 26 at 8:00pm et did not include a “reply to jeb” at the end. you were a couple of levels in and responding to jd.
i am using safari on an iphone and it didn’t matter if i was in portrait or landscape.
i thought it may have been specific to you but then i noticed it again in a comment from mike s to you at 10:44pm et. mike s did not have a reply to option. it also appears to be a few levels in.
just thought i would bring this to your attention in case there is a fix.
thanks,

jeb:
on the subject of: certainly not trying to create more work for you, i added an emoji to my display name (after seeing it on fran b’s acct π) and apparently that moved in to newbie mode.
i do now recall that happening to me back when i first started on your site and tuned up my display name after making a comment or two.my question is this. doesn’t your comment system have an option to make our email addresses the unique key instead of our display name? it is a required field after all and will always be unique.
given that we, as users, don’t appear to have any option to update our respective user icon (though i imagine you could for us but hey, ain’t nobody got time for that).
in any event, it would be cool to be able to personalize our display names whenever we feel like it (or update our icons).
no worries if we can’t. just a bummer to make a change cuz i’m feelin’ like it, then fall in to moderator limbo and be a burden on you…and of course my awesomely witty comments get back burnered π€·ββοΈπ€.
as always, thanks for all you do. it is way cool being a part of what you have genned up here. kudos!

Jeb,
Notch and Novel appear like this in the Bloclk List but are wrongly sequenced in the Main List.
Hat tip to Maya -
Once again, as of the 16/6 update with the 15/6 solution, the total of new and repeated solutions (currently 133) is one less than the number of puzzles since Groundhog Day (134). Been like this for a few days now.
Not criticising, just know that you’ll want to fix it once you are aware of it.
VERY grateful for your efforts and this brilliant web-site.
Mark
-
The total of new and repeated solutions is still short by one day. Perhaps it dates back to the day when you were busy and forgot to update the list with WHARF, then did that later.
Thanks, as always. Your work is invaluable and much appreciated.
-
-
Jeb, Thanks for your wonderful work. I had 28 possible solutions for today’s wordle after my first guess. Your list had 27 which had already been used, leaving 1 which allowed me to Wordle in 2!!!!
-
Thanks for the list endorsement (and coffee!) Don!

I was thinking, with the list filters maybe include a clear button.
Really like the filters and this site has helped me narrow choices many times, keep up the good work!

NOVEL and NOTCH still seem to be out of order on the alphabetical Five Forks list.

Donβt forget to add QUELL to your list. It was day before yesterday.

Fixed. Thanks Corey!

Your info is incorrect: you post Jun 9 as βALIGNβ. That was the word for Jun 10. June 9 was βWHARFβ
-
Thanks Stuart! I’ve been working on some coding for the After Party and I missed updating WHARF.
-
-
June 9 word was wharf. That word is in neither list. What happened?
-
Thanks Dennis! The After Party has a pretty complex new feature that will let visitors know about new comments and replies, so I was in the coding zone and missed the WHARF update.
-

The Used list looks inaccurate:
Tuesday, June 9 WHARF
Wednesday, June 10 ALIGN-
Fixed. Thanks Chris!

Still seeing it unchanged on my end.

Meaning, I still donβt see WHARF for the 10th, and I have refreshed a few times.

The word BASIS from game 1809(?) is missing from the block list but appears on alphabetical and numerical lists

Block list fixed. BASIS added. Thanks Jim!

I like that EXCLUDES filter. Narrows it down quite a bit. And easy to use, too! Thanks Jeb
-
One of your competitors removes a repeat answer on the day it is used again as an answer. I suggest you do the same.
-
I gave that a lot of thought. Doing that requires future information. Future puzzles have to be played and examined to post it in advance / same day. So it is a bit of a cheat. This is a past only list.
Thanks for the feedback!

-
Did you ever say why this site is called FiveForks?
-
Hey Jeb,
Yesterday I noticed that NOVEL and NOTCH seem to be out of order on your alphabetical Five Forks list.
Thanks for all the work you do!

Final Block List correction:
move NICHE before NIECEI also noticed that all of the reused words have an extra space before them. Not sure if it can be fixed as I assume it has to do with the highlighting, but the editor in me couldnβt just let it go. π
-
There isn’t a real space, rather the yellow highlight style is creating a little padding before and after within the highlight. Subtle, but now I can’t not see it!

Welcome to my world! π€¦π»ββοΈπ

Found another fix for the Block List. GUARD needs to be moved before GUAVA.

Hi Jeb,
In the Block List, AVOID is trying to avoid detection by hiding between AVAIL and AVERT. Or possibly AVERT is the one attempting to avert our eyes to avoid being spotted, but to no avail. π€·π»ββοΈ-

A new first-place distant neighbor pair. 1,800 days!
ETUDE > #1807 > 05/31/26
EVADE > #7 > 06/26/21 = 1,800 daysCROCK > #1776 > 04/30/26
CROAK > #33 > 07/22/21 = 1,743 daysCLUMP > #1767 > 04/21/26
CLUCK > #46 > 08/04/21 = 1,721 days-
Another milestone! Thank Mike!
-
Can you explain what is the “distant neighbor pair”?
-
It refers to words next to one another in the alpha list. The distance is how many days separate them. In this example ETUDE was #1807 and its “neighbor” EVADE was #7 (a first week answer) and that set a new record at a day distance of 1807 – 7 =1,800.
ETHOS 769
ETUDE 1807
EVADE 7It doesn’t mean anything in playing the game, but it is something Mike, me, and some others watch out for just because…

Jeb,
The word “singe” is misplaced in the Block List. It is now before “shire”

Thanks Don. It was trying to sneak ahead in line. It was so silly to do that. Thanks for sounding the siren.

I made a technical change to the site that has to do with how WordPress displays all of our green / yellow / gray / black squares. It was auto-substituting images (svgs) instead of unicode text and that was causing some copy/paste problems.
It turns out the site displays pages much faster because of that, so an unintended benefit.
Let me know if you noticed anything positive or negative with the change. In my tests it all looks the same, but older browsers may see something different.
Thanks! — Jeb
-
This is probably only a me and my old phone problem. So don’t make any changes just on our account. I’ll likely be getting a new phone in July anyway.
But you asked, so I’ll report. In texts, my phone semi-randomly displays the color boxes as the famed ‘we don’t have that emoji’ boxes with Xs in them. This issue in my family Wordle text chain (of days gone by) is part of the reason I started giving my solutions titles. No one else’s phones had this problem.
Examples from today: everyone’s last green line is visible; I can see all the yellows and greens in Elaine’s solution; I can only see the colors in the last line of my solution; but I can see the last 3 lines of your solution, but not the colors above; some solutions have colors visible on the top line, but not in lines after that until the last.
Again, it’s very random. And again, don’t change the improved performance of the website for the sake of one old phone. … But if someone has any recommendations for what I can do to change my phone’s performance…
-
Mike:
What model phone and what OS version are you using? If I’m reading this right, you experience the problem in both your messaging app and Chrome browser?
https://share.google/aimode/nwXMc5mgdhPm0QID7
And related to the change I put in two days ago, it doesn’t sound like anything has changed for you better or worse in the last two days?
Jeb
-
In modern terms my phone is nearly ancient. It’s almost 10 years old. I have a Galaxy 8 with Android Version 9, assuming I’ve looked everything up correctly.
The shared solution images *have* changed visually for me in the last two days. Before, my phone showed all color boxes appropriately. Your mention of unicode text images (or some such foreign to me language) in a reply to kralc suggests why what I see now in the After Party is like what my phone shows when Wordle is shared through text messages.
But again, don’t sweat it. I will eventually have a new phone. And more importantly I can figure out the color boxes from the given words. It’s all good. π

I got bored, so I decided to look up what (still unplayed) words would take #1 in terms of distant neighbors, if they happened to be the solution tomorrow. The current record is CROCK #1776 -> CROAK #33, with a difference of 1743 days. These would beat it in terms of distance.
HUMUS -> HUMPH #3
SETUP -> SERVE #9
KAPPA -> KARMA #13
FECAL -> FEIGN #19
FELLA -> FEIGN #19

CLUED -> CLUCK #46
SPIKY -> SPIKE #47

Hi Jeb!
Thanks for the repeat wordle stats. I’m wondering, could you possibly add the previous answer number (maybe in red) in another column?
Thanks for keeping this the number one reference site!!

Will work on stats enhancement Aitch. Iβve been trying to figure out how to show elapse days between repeats vs days since prior repeat clearly.

Aitch,
I added two columns to the repeat stats on Tips page: prior# and prior year (1 = first 365 days etc.) Will appear with May 31 update at 6 a.m. ET.

Hi Jeb. In your description for the #1785 SAT 05/09/2026 after party, did you intend to write Violet rather than violent?

This may be a first: a third-place tie! Also note that all these occurred within the past month:

Does anyone else play Wordle without an official account-just opening the browser to play?
Not so Fun fact- if you do that, and you clear your browser cache- you lose your entire play streak. Ugh!
This happened to me when I was just shy of a one year streak. 145 days ago. I was in a remote area and I thought if I cleared my history it might improve my connection.
BTW- It didnβtβ¦-
I wish it had warned you.
You can sign up for a free account and Wordle will keep your history in the account. In that way if you change devices or browsers, and log in, all of your history is kept in sync.
-
Yeah, I just didnβt want to give NYT my info. Just wondered if I was alone in that.
-
I vowed not to sign up after NYT tried to coerce us by cancelling the stats……. and looked at signing up a coupe of weeks back – read up on the details / sharing etc. and did not proceed!
-
I held off on setting up an account for a long time. When I finally did, even a few years ago my streak was reset a few times by glitches. This is why I track my stats on a spreadsheet. The app is actually pretty nice.

Like the new font and find new features regularly (just discovered the filter!). This site is a valuable tool to keep my sanity with wordle. Random question that may not be new–why was Five Forks chosen for the site?
-
I lived off Five Forks Trickum Road for a while back when the internet was getting started. It was a family blog site built on MovableType (before WordPress) for many years and then Facebook took my family away. Thanks for asking Dennis!
-
-
I am a fan of the new dynamic search feature, but I think a great addition would be to make words searchable by date and # as well. For example if you type 06/19/21 or #0, it brings up CIGAR
-
Good ideas SC. Maybe I can build in a little of AI that figures out what you are searching for. I’ll take it into Five Forks Labs…
-
-
Hello Jeb. The dynamic search is great! I especially like the wildcard feature. It is much quicker and easier to use.
BTWβ¦.the new font is another welcomed feature. Very easy on the eyes.
Thanks!-
Thanks for the feedback Sheila! Swing by the After Party and join in!
