NYT AVG. 3.5Wordlebot’s third word was HUMPS. That sure looks like a plural ending in S—unless it’s a verb?
The bot also helpfully pointed out that MOUSY had been ruled out by GRASS. 🤦🏼♂️

🇪🇬 I’m reading a book now that indicates that gypsy was a word used for immigrants from Egypt at one point in the US. (American Nations by Colin Woodard). In the book, it isn’t presented as a slur.
Interesting news to me, because I had only thought gypsy or gipsy as Sven describes below.

I recently redid the analysis on my second choices and decided on HOKUM as the burner word for this one.
Since every answer has either an O or a U except SLYLY (which didn’t have an H), HOKUM ruled out ALL OG NUs.
What’s left? Only ADDs.

SYNTH – 57.7%Intersection guess needs to end in CH. So, I went with the highest WB%. I had to go to the tenths digit for this.

i like paste. i switched to it after my getting it in one with my prev first guess. i only check used words instead of other word lists. i checked for a few words with some common letters and paste is what i landed on. i have no idea how it compares to other possible first words lol

We watched a subtitled version, which was a little weird in one scene as there were no subtitles when Faust was, I assumed, speaking extensively in Latin.
There is an English dubbed version, which I’d also like to watch. That version has high praise for the voice over work with all of the voices performed by Andrew Sachs, who played Manuel on Fawlty Towers.

I’m confused by the questions of DRINK and BRING since the S and Y are established from Charles’ first two guesses.
That said, if PSYCH wasn’t revealing itself at that point, I could see using DRINK or BRING as a filter word to check for the last vowel and a near-handful of new consonants.

Btw, I have in my notes from a JD post that 6 more words were taken off the orig. 2315 list recently: fanny, gipsy, gypsy, mammy, semen, and welsh. In case this helps…

BTW, that’s a point that deserves more research (by me).
I am not sure that it’s a true statement.
There are fewer vowels and more common.
So, if you find there’s an E in a word, does that narrow down the pool of words as much as finding a T or an L?
