I’m going to give up a big hint to my many decades on this planet. My husband and I got a mortgage on our second house in early 1982 at 17.75%. 😳 we proceeded to refi at 12 and again at 8. Our next house was at a very reasonable 6ish percent in 1997. Fun times 😄

Interest rates were not great back then, right? So I guess a 6% loan was not strictly speaking usury. Though, it didn’t help improve your credit score, either.
My dad simply co-signed on my first car loan. Any loans I got from my parents in subsequent years became “loans”.

Hey! We both have boats in our Wordle Art.
Your ferry boat reminds me of the one we took in the Orkney Islands from Orkney to Rousay. It fit maybe a dozen cars. And you had to back up onto it.

When I went Scotland (probably about 18 years ago.), we took the Rabbies minibus tour where we took the ferry from Inverness to the Orkneys.
I loved it! There’s a neolithic settlement there which is older than the pyramids! Its called Skara Brae.

My wife told me we were in Scotland in 2010. She has a list.
We took a minibus tour on our first trip to the UK. That got us comfortable enough to do the driving ourselves (okay, almost entirely myself). I love driving over there.
On our most recent trip we finally got north of Edinburgh. Skara Brae was indeed fascinating. And there are so many historical sites to explore in the Orkneys, literally hundreds of archeological sites. It’s a beautiful and amazing place.
Plus, in Stromness we met an older guy who helped us back to our car through the maze of that town. He shared a lot of local history and changes the place has seen. And he talked about being a youth in the town at a time when Robert Shaw (Quint, from Jaws) lived there as a boy. That would easily put our guide in his 90s, which was certainly possible. And definitely a story worth believing if for no other reason than it put us at a known three degrees of separation from Steven Spielberg. 😊
