This is my 166th Sea of Greens and my 111th Wordle in 2. Though, for the Sea of Greens badge, is it retroactive to before the badge existed?

[[Dilophosaurus Skull]
Talked myself out of SHONE on guess three because it seemed purely past tense.
Sounds similar to my excusing WAKEN as an option yesterday. 🙄
I totally see the diloph skull! That’s rad.
I think past tense is okay as long as it’s not a simple past tense, where it’s just the present tense + ED
That is exactly the right way to interpret that one.
Similarly, there are plural words that don’t end in S.
I feel like we’ve been on this topic before. But what are some examples of past tense and plural words that have been used, simple or otherwise?
This question is for anyone.
In the category of 1st year REPEATs we have
=============================
FOUND #282
SHOWN #312
SLUNG #327
CREPT #343
Keeping in mind, I don’t know grammar. FOUND and SHOWN have non past tense meanings.
‘I want to FOUND a non-profit. The chart SHOWN below helps explain long-term funding. ‘
I could be wrong on SLUNG, but the following sentence seems to be acceptable and without past tense.
‘He wears his holster SLUNG low.’
CREPT is a really good example. Like with SHONE, I can’t think of a way in which it can be used in a way where it stays from being past tense. … Guess I’ll have be open to some past tense words.
* strays not stays
Also, SHOWN is not really the past tense (that would be SHOWED). It’s the past participle (in your example, used as a participial adjective)
I never claimed that these were exclusively past tense words.
You asked for examples of words that were played that are past tense words.
These words qualify.
I didn’t have time to go through the entire list of 2315 words.
Not trying to trap you, JD.
Just trying to find examples of past tense words that are distinctly past tense.
CREPT seems to be a really good example. Like SHONE, I can’t think of a way in which it could be used where it doesn’t *sound* like a past tense verb.
FRIED would be an example of a more squishy past tense word. It’s an adjective in ‘FRIED polenta’, and it looks present tense in ‘The motherboard is FRIED.’ So it seems more of a squishy past tense word even if it is technically past tense in both cases and can’t help but look like a past tense word with its -ED ending.
An ugly 6…I wasn’t aware enough to see I had already used T in smote soo I should have had 5…

⬜⬜⬜🟨🟩 RAISE
🟩⬜🟩⬜🟩 STOKE
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 SHONE
RAISE leaves SHONE, SMOTE and STOKE.
Also ADDs SEDGE, SPUME, STELE and UNSEE.
REPEATs SOLVE and STOVE are also in play.
STOKE shared the T with SMOTE which ultimately ruled that out.
SMOTE WB% is 51%. STOKE is 58%.
STOKE left only SHONE.

Today, for the first time ever, I considered ADDs in looking for the filter word 😳. I really only took seriously the one that was 58% though.
I studied your ADD /re-pete odds from 9.17. I hope I counted them all, but I *think* the add “pattern” since EMOJI is ~:
13, 13, 6, 4, 15, 5, 2, 8, 2, 2, 2, 2, 4, 1, 2, 3, 1, 7
The above is seemingly not much of a “pattern.” It’s easier to see a rough pattern on a graph, though. Seems we should get a spate of ADDs now for a while that are mostly 1-2 days apart.
Any further thoughts since your last post?
………………………………………………………
Recent ADDs:
1918 9/19/26 WAKEN
1911 9/12/26 NIFTY
1910 09/11/26 ASTER
1907 09/08/26 LIVEN

1852 07/15/26 PSHAW
1839 07/02/26 MAVEN
1826 06/19/26 EMOJI
I tend to agree. TB and the gang tend to cluster the ADDs (and REPEATs mixed in).
So, I would not be surprised on a run on ADD’s especially since the odds are about 1/3 and we’ve gone a few days with mostly OG NU words.
I will still prioritize OG NU in my strategy, but I am starting to list the possible ADD’s and first year REPEATs; so, that I am aware of them.
Yesterday, I analyzed the letter count of all of these words to see if I could get a better idea which OG NU word (CAGEY or OAKEN) to select. The result was inconclusive. Neither was a better filter. So, it came down to WB%. In the end, it didn’t matter, because neither was the answer. I am hoping one of these 2 will be the answer, because it will reduce my guess count by one every time that pattern comes up. The problem is that CAGEY don’t share any letters except the A and the E (which I already knew about.)
Well played! And might I add, your grid art interpretations and haikus are always on point. 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!
🍕 is okay on occasion.

🤔 Two of the possible words today were on theme with pirates: SPUME 🌊 and SWORE (as in “swore like a pirate when she shaved her legs” -nod to Prine & DeMent).

……………………………
Been with Slate solid since 6.6.22. In the 2-3 months prior to that, I messed around with various some of them kinda crazy starters… these couple months were where many of my 4,5,6s came from LOLZ…
Slant, Trans, Later, Stare, Crane, Roate, Stane, Heart, Pious, Cheat, Fault, Louse, Chose, Roast, Euros, Morel, Oater, Ariel, Sauté, Youse, Stead
Youse is the most fun.
What about your starters??? 🤔
Youse 😁 so you got a 1 with slate. Cool! For a very short time I played some various starting words which I don’t remember. But, fairly quickly I ran across someone advocating for alert followed by sonic if alert struck out, then pudgy. So I went that route “altering” 😉 the words as needed to use those letters. If I only got a yellow e my go to was scone, etc. I did that from October 2023 until March 2025 when alert was the word. I didn’t get much more strategic than that. I played sonar quite a bit after that. Until it was the word this year. I’m going to search the archives to figure out what my other #1 was 🤪
You’ll have to tell me what you find! It was really kinda fun to list out my old starter words when I was just a widdle wordle baby…. 👶
🤔 would be kinda fun to just play those words again now for the fun of it and see if I can do better with them now (hopefully, I can).
I will be watching to see if you play them. 😁🍀
I found my other #1 and it all came back to me. I had been starting with a few different words before settling on sonar. Then I noticed the bot had been starting with clasp (hard mode). The one and only time I played it and it was the word. I was shocked. 😳 should have bought a lottery ticket that day

They’re on the OG list.
I had the same 3, but I didn’t have the O, because of RAISE.
I also had a few ADDs and a couple of first year REPEATs to choose from.
Did you play SMOTE because it shared the T in STOKE? I played STOKE for the same reason. (also could have led to STOVE #284b)
Yes I played SMOTE as it shares the T with STOKE.
Today I played STOKE as it provides more information on the 10 PU than SMOTE
You know I read this before I played today.
I would have played STOKE anyway, because that’s what I played last time.

A *SNAP* with yours, and with my life-twin.
I’m too old – I had to google what snap means in this context. At least I got an answer, unlike with Meg’s OG filter.
Maybe SNAP’s a UK thing? As for old, I was born before D-Day 🤔 Wordle keeps the grey matter ticking over, I believe.
I was born before
V E day. Also hoping Wordle keeps the grey matter younger.
The young (born in the 1980s and beyond) use snap as well! Synonyms for both “I got it!” Or “Darn I don’t have it”
Expressions can be odd.
To me SNAP indicates that two things are matching. It comes from the card game where when you see a pair the first person to say SNAP and put their hand on the pile takes the pile.
Meg, Google told me several interpretations, including yours, which is the one I decided Sean meant. Google did not link it to the card game. I used to play that game a lot years ago but had forgotten it until you linked it to SNAP.

OG=Original Game answer list (2315 list)

Indeed. But some folks on here have more sophisticated methods, like lists of possible ADDs and shrinking versions of OG with used words removed. Personally, I can’t keep up with all their wizardry!
I was looking for a word on theOriginal Game answer list that hadn’t been used and had E and O and other common letters I was trying to filter out lots of words to narrow it down to the solution. I just got lucky!
