======You’re Welcome==========
You know WURST is just a sausage. (The German word for it.)
Bratwurst is just one variety.
We had Liverwurst growing up.
Oktoberfest is coming soon. Prosit!
==========================
Wurst Type Description
————————————————————
Bratwurst – Coarsely ground sausage, often grilled or fried.Weisswurst – A white sausage made from minced veal and back bacon, traditionally eaten before noon.
Currywurst – A popular street food made from boiled and fried sausage, served with curry ketchup.
Blutwurst – Blood sausage made from pork rind and blood, often served warm.
Nürnberger Bratwürste – Small, thin sausages from Nuremberg, known for their distinct flavor.
Thüringer Rostbratwurst – A traditional sausage from Thuringia, seasoned with a variety of spices.
Regensburger Wurst – A boiled sausage with coarse and fine pork fillings, often served cold or hot.
Ahle Wurst – A hard-pork sausage from Northern Hesse, known for its slow maturation.
Bierwurst – A smoked sausage from Bavaria, flavored with garlic and spices.
Mettwurst – A spreadable sausage made from pork and beef, often used in sandwiches.
-
I guess I am not well-versed in wurst!
I have heard of liverwurst, now that you mention it, but I have never heard of those other ones!
-
Bratwurst might be the BEST of the WURST though!
(Sorry, I had to go there.)

-
Many years ago, as a college student, traveling thru Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, there was a GREAT restaurant, by the campus, called the Wurst House.
Needless to say, they served fabulous German sandwiches that poor students could afford.
Delish. (Just an aside.)
Thanks for the making me recall the memories.

Yeah, KFC has never been a big hangout spot for me either.
-
47 years? OMG… that is amazing. I only racked up 15, but I remember back in the day eating at a restaurant … “Oh, yes we have vegetarian… here’s your plate of baby trees and plain boiled wheat shapes.”
-
15 years is nothing to shrug at. That’s a serious commitment.

The Death of Ivan Ilyich: The Ennui of Facing Life’s Emptiness or Simply Bad Coleslaw?
-
Actually, not only not a fan of KFC, not a fan of Tolstoy. Hated Anna Karenina (even the movie). 👎 Like, it’s 800 pages of a woman ruining her life, and honestly? If I wanted to see a hot mess, I’d just look at my September Wordle average. (You thought I was going to say “I’d look in the mirror,” didn’t you, come on now, admit it. LOLZ) 🪞
😡 Probably get some pushback from Russian literature fans but I’ll never forgive my bookclub members who chose Anna Karenina & followed it up with War & Peace.

NEW: NO TOMORROW
Using your local time, the After Party will hide tomorrow so that you cannot accidentally see the future.
I’m keeping the “TODAY” button and highlight which was my first way to help avoid that.
Several of us (me about 3 times) have accidentally opened tomorrow and spoiled the game for ourselves.
Let me know if this causes any problem.
Party on, Wayne.
-
To our considerate down-under friends. This means you can record your full guess grid including the answer because the risk of spoiling is eliminated.
-
Pretty fancy work there, Mayor. 🥳
-
Nice!
Party on Garth.
-
Smart idea! Thanks jeb!
-
This is probably more trouble than it’s worth, but another idea in that vein is to make the word list hide any entries from “today” on local time rather than updating for everyone at midnight Hawaii time.
-
I’ve thought about it. The three lists are just long text lists and only one of them has a date value to programmatically hide (CRON). On that same page code *could* hide that answer and then go off looking for a match in the ALPHA list and hide that all before drawing the page.
The BLOCK list though has no such hooks to hang onto and is independent of the Main lists.
So let’s just try to not use yesterday’s word based on memory. (Admittedly I have a hard time remembering yesterday, so I keep every day’s solve in my Notes app and on the After Party!)
I like the idea, though. I will fire up a Busen Burner in the lab. 🧯
-
-
How have you handled the spoilers? Did you go ahead and play your Wordle in 1?
-
No. I actually ignore the spoiler and play “what would I have done” using my usual starter rotation and filter patterns. I’ve gone 4 or 5 doing that!

🟨⬜⬜⬜🟨 Saner
⬜⬜🟩🟨🟨 Virus
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 BurstAfter SANER, I used various filters in my favorite solver. Then I looked up several words in Weighted Bottles.
burst, frisk, risky, virus, 58%
dross, 57.2368%
torus, 48.4331%
grows, horst, rishi, yours, 0%Then I counted the number of non-zero words that have each letter:
B
D
F
I x3
K x2
O x2
T x2
U x3
V
YI tried using Miriam Webster to find words with IOUTK, but eventually decided to try VIRUS.
After VIRUS, only one possibility remained in the solver.
-
🙋🏼♀️Pray tell… what is your favorite solver? 🤔
-
I was using the Wordle solver on the Word Finder site:
https://www.thewordfinder.com/wordle-solverIt’s not perfect but it’s the best one I’ve found so far. I like seeing the remaining possible words, filtering them by common words, hiding past answers, and seeing a percentage for each letter based on the list of remaining words. Those percentages help me come up with a word with the five new likely letters for my second guess.
I wish that site would allow sorting or filtering of words by their Weighted Bottle score. Maybe someday, I’ll create an account on that site just to give them feedback.
It also has a “hide words ending in S” option, but that hides valid words like TORUS and VIRUS, in addition to plural words. It does not have a “hide words ending in ED” for past tense words.
-
-
Download the Word Lookup app.
You can plug I, U, K, O, T into the anagrammer and add ? as a wildcard letter if needed.
I, U, K, O, T, ? gives you
KNOUT, KUSTI, OUTIE, QUOIT, TAIKO, TUPIK
-
Thanks for the suggestion, JD. I’ll keep it in mind.
I hesitate to install apps on my phone. I recently uninstalled a bunch of apps and deleted several files in an attempt to troubleshoot a problem.
For that type of word lookup, I like Mirriam-Webster’s Word Finder:
https://www.merriam-webster.com/wordfinderThat page is usually very helpful. Today was one of the exceptions. IOUTK yeilded nothing, so I dropped the K. IOUT gave me:
fotui, outie, quoit, Tious, TiouxNone of those appealed to me, so I looked back at this list:
burst, frisk, risky, virus, 58%
dross, 57.2368%
torus, 48.4331%That’s why I decided to go with VIRUS for my second word.
-
Here’s an online tool. No app necessary.
https://anagramer.org/scrabble-word-finder/
You can enter in “?” to add a wildcard letter (a blank tile in Scrabble).
-
Oh, I see! That is different than what I was thinking, and more helpful. I have bookmarked that site for next time. Thank you.

Comments Update:
Some of you have had problems with posts not publishing. It turns out there are two systems that examine comments for either 1) moderation or 2) spam. I had not been checking #2 and found many there.
I’ve modified WordPress adding a rule to bypass 1 and 2 if you have 5 or more comments approved. So the regulars can go to town with emojis, codes, links, tables, html, etc and not get blocked. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏼
