woof, that was a slog…down here at the dry and dusty creek bed i had just one corner of an ingot stickin’ up to work with.

did a boatload a diggin’ to narrow this one down. bet my money on the bobtail nag, a gnu ride named “daily”…i tell ya she had a chance, a real good chance…well shoot, mildred…we were so close. 😉🤷‍♂️

…what that horse did reveal was my old pal wimpy, for whom i would gladly pay tuesday for a hamburger today. 😎

My second guess got it down to: Biddy, Hippy, Piggy, and Wimpy. Wimpy would rule in/out the other 3. Also, according to FF, there are 62 previous answers that start with W, so I was happy I went with Wimpy.

    1. Nicely done.

I think we have to praise 3’s today, because I didn’t notice anyone who got a 2 today.

    1. Gee thanks. Now, it’s in my head too! LOL.

    2. You should know that PLIER is one of those low Weighted Bottle words.

It has a score of %2.37.

I noted it in all my lists; so, I don’t play it as a guess for the answer.

It’s fine as a filter though.

      1. 🐸 Kim Avatar

        You’re welcome! 😆

Hmmm. PLIER is on the 2315 list. I didn’t realize that the 2315 words had possibility percentages attached to them. Especially since the ER isn’t because of a comparative adjective.

P.S. I know this will probably sound petty, and for that I apologize, but I beg you to please start putting the “%” after the number rather than before. My proofreader’s mind goes a little crazy every time I see that error and I can’t fix it! 🤪😉

It seems like a trend I’ve seen over the last several years, putting the symbol in the opposite place. Like 50$. So why not %50? Maybe it’s a thing now. 🤷‍♀️

          1. 🐸 Kim Avatar

Yeah, I’ve noticed that too with the younger generations. But I think that is more attributed to not learning it or remembering it from school, and also the fact that so many of them started texting before learning this stuff and it just stuck in their minds that way. None of the rules or style guides have changed.

Wordlebot’s comment on PIGMY is odd: “There was only one possible solution left — and this wasn’t it. PIGMY is a valid guess and you have a great vocabulary, but I don’t consider it a likely solution.”

    1. I think this is because PYGMY is the primary variant of that word.

PIGMY isn’t listed on the Weighted Bottles list.

PYGMY is an unplayed 2315 word. It’s Weighted Bottle score is %58.

That makes PYGMY a certain play. (Maybe soon if these P’s keep up).

If only I had started with PRICY. LOL.

Not only is the PI word back with a vengeance , the Y is back too.

Also, no repeated letters. This factors into my decision making process too.

    ———————————————————
RAISE leaves 37 words. Still the worst leave for RAISE.

Last time I had this pattern, I played LINTY. I since computed that the burner word of HOTLY is much better. It plays most of the tier 2 letters OLTYN except N.

Still, HOTLY left me with 5 words.

    BIDDY(38), KINKY(58), NINNY(55), PIGGY(58), WIMPY(58).

    WORD(Weighted Bottle Score)

Of course, I think it’s a PI word, but which one?

    PIGGY or WIMPY.

I don’t have a G in the puzzle at this point; so, I don’t really want to go with PIGGY. Plus, the recent trend is NOT double letters.

    Therefore WIMPY is the guess.

    Risky though.

I almost opted to play PINKY(#625)

If it was NINNY, I would have gotten it in 6, because KINKY would have been next.

Maybe I should change my 2nd word from CRONY to MINOR per JD when I get nada on SLATE. This worked out well for you, Judy.

There are 315 words left after a nada SLATE but I don’t know which are NU, PU, or possible ADDs.

      1. How about IRONY(433)?

The 2 tiers are ERASI and OLTYN.

SLATE played everything but RI and OYN

        ——————————————-
You probably wont get a 2 (short term), because it’s not a first year REPEAT, but you’ll have played all of the 10 most common letters remaining in the 2315 word set.

        1. 🥸 Christine the Benevolent Avatar
          🥸 Christine the Benevolent

I like IRONY a lot… but, ur right, I do need to get some twos real bad.

          1. I didn’t check MINOR to see it was played already or not.

Regarding SLATE, the anagram STEAL has not been played if you want to try for ONE. I think it’s green score is not as good though.

            Here’s a challenge!

Come up with a 2 word start that doesn’t share letters, but are also unplayed 2315 words. Preference for Tier 1,2,3 letters.

          2. MINOR is unplayed 2315 word. You guys probably already knew that!

      2. I can see that IRONY would be a good filter. I don’t generally use filters. My lists are based, specifically, on SLATE. For example, if I have a Green TE and Yellow SA, I have a list for just that circumstance; caste, paste. I have lists for every configuration. I’m sure I’m missing quite a few possibilities. Some have several word choices. Others one or two. That’s why I have to stick with SLATE. My lists keep growing bc of FF-AP, JD’s ADDs, and going thru the original list like Glenda did. (I think that’s where I got the idea)
How do you know there are 315 words after ALL GRAY for us? I don’t have access to that info. I do have a huge list for All GRAY scenario. Maybe 60 words or so.
My scores are all 3s and 4s this month too. I have no 2s.Boohoo

I do not know, but rather report what the Wordle Bot stated after the fact.

Sometimes I have gone through brainstormed a dozen possibles, then eliminated some pu and only considered playing 3 of them, only to find out there were 15 possible, and maybe a new unused that I failed to brainstorm.

        2. 🥸 Christine the Benevolent Avatar
          🥸 Christine the Benevolent

Judy L my fellow slater. ✨ I also keep a chart of the best 2nd word choices in each scenario, except nada where I go 3 deep. Sounds like you’ve gone 3 deep on every combination—your chart must be huge. I also mostly keep track of NU, PU, & the 🤖adds I’ve picked up from the nearly useless 🤖 analyses.

I also feel like I’ve gone to long w/SLATE to change my starting word. JD did it and RAISE is the better starting word, but he has so much more data & statistics than we all have obvi. He did throw out a challenge to me to just try it for one day! 🐓🐓🐓 But I set an August goal and change is so hard.

    1. I have to say this seems like the fifth time or more (haven’t checked though) that you and I have had the exact same game. I always start with AROSE and usually follow with UNITY.

Probably not the best starting words to solve in 2 or 3, but gives all the vowels right away. Also, based on the most recent letter count of unused words, I believe this covers 9 of the top 10.

I don’t post often, but regularly read the After Party.

      1. UNITY is a good word, but have you guys considered playing LINTY after AROSE.

That would nail all 10 letters.

        L(122) ranks 8th.

        U(100) ranks 11th.

Your green score would be slightly better as well.

        ——————————————————
Since UNITY(#1832) is not a first year REPEAT, it’s unlikely to be the answer (in the short term) anyway.

LINTY is an unlikely ADD. So, that’s not going to be the answer either.

      2. I used to start with “arise” followed by “youth” or “young”, but “arose” and “unity” give me better results. I’ve only been tracking my results for 26 games (since I started posting here) and have 5 in 2 guesses, 12 in 3, 6 in 4, 3 in 6 (I think 2 of those were pure carelessness and one was a pu).

This is not obvious but there is a 15 minute “Grace period” before your New indicators are auto-cleared. This allows for you to work the list and make comments.

Also coming is the “next / previous” to let you jump through New only. A lot cooking!

        1. I really like the next/previous idea

I have been appreciating the clear button but didn’t enjoy having to go back to the top to use it

Thanks so much for making this after party so fun to navigate. I guess you enjoy fine tuning it too!

          1. Remember there’s a Go Back to Top at the bottom, but watch for a mini yellow menu coming in every yellow NEW highlight comment:

            Next / Previous / First / Last / Options

Clicking on Options will jump to the top where you can see:

            Next clear: HH:MM / +15 min / Clear Now

By default the clear is set to 15 minutes after you return to the list. (Up from 5 minutes at kralc’s request.) Gives you time to work through the list and then will clear for you.

You can add +15 minutes to the clear time. Or you can Clear Now.

Thanks for testing and giving feedback!

          2. The mini menus look wonderful!

I must confess that I have never noticed the grey Back to Daily List and Back to top buttons. Maybe if they were say blue my unobservant brain might have seen them.

I definitely need at least 15 minutes as I often spend considerable time looking up the meaning of words as the After Party expands my vocabulary. Also the time it takes for me to compose comments like this.

Thanks so much for making the After Party experience easier.

        2. I wish the Go Back To Top button was accessible everywhere, because I’m often in the middle of the blog.

I use the email responses from the previous day to jump into yesterday’s After Party and then I scroll to the top or bottom to find that Daily list button.

So, if I could jump back to the top (or bottom) instantly, it would be a big time saver.

          1. Thank you! 👏

          2. I can add that to a comment sub-menu where you see reply right now. Maybe a TOP and BOTTOM.

With all this great feedback, NYC is going to want to buy this site!

            NEVER!

          3. Don’t sell!

A crowded party would not be as much fun.
It would take all day to mingle in the crowd.

    5. I like the Clear button.

But I wouldn’t make it too big, maybe just more visible. I’ve already accidentally activated it once while scrolling down.

      1. Good point. Probably need to add a “Confirm Clear” step.
