well, with the e firmly planted in the middle of the creek i was left with seven unused choices. i went with the somewhat obscure poesy for the two and flamed out. that did at least eliminate all the s words which left only amend and theta.
🎲🎲🎯 could have gone either way.🤷♂️ didn’t get the deuce but i did get the net set up for badminton.

Felt like we were due for a U again. Apparently not. CLEAT was a big help towards AMEND because I didn’t think we would get a ♻️ today. At least I got that assumption right.

I was cleaning up my “research tab” with all my resource links for Wordle and Quordle and came across this link with a video from Tracy Bennett.https://www.eurogamer.net/wordle-is-running-out-of-words
She talks about being “worried” about running out of words.
This was published on 4/2/24. She said there were 2300+ words left (In fact there were 1291 left), and that she added about 30 words. 4 ADD’s had been played thus far. The 2300+ was probably referring to the original 2315 (or was it?)
She also said she was considering plurals and past tenses! That mean words ending in “S” and “ED”.
She also said that at some point “near the end”, she would throw all the words “back into the pot”. This implies that she wont finish the 2315 list (as I suspected). It will be interesting to see what words she omits.
This was over 2 years ago; so, clearly, she has taken a slightly different path since then, but I think it gives us some insight to her thinking.

so i am kinda curious about the selection process for the words.
1) how far in advance are they chosen?
2) who else knows them since, bummer, they can’t play the game?
…and are the answers actually stored in a mayonnaise jar on funk and wagnalls’ porch? 🤓-
According to things that I have read, they select the answers about 30 days in advance. It is baked into the Java code of Wordle itself.
I presume Tracy Bennett herself is constantly looking for new words to add and is open to suggestions (per the video). That’s where we come in.
Some people have looked into the code and have seen the answers (Wordle Tools). This is how they know how many ADDs are coming.
I think NYT should encrypt it; so, that people can’t see it. It would be better in that mayonnaise jar! LOL.
I suppose people who know the answers can also play, but, obviously, that would be cheating. What fun is that anyway?

There are 10 words with L, 8 words with a T, 5 words with an N, 4 words with a C.
I considered words that had both L and T.
ECLAT, CLEAT and LEANT.
I charted all 3. LEANT and CLEAT give me the best odds of a 3. 13 out of 17.
I decided that CLEAT might be World Cup oriented; so, I went with that.
CLEAT left only AMEND, because I ruled out the T in THETA and the E was in the right position.

When you say, “leaves me with 17 words” what list are you looking at? I know there is a Previous Word list but is there some website that will tell you possible words based on letters used/unused?

Good question. I only consider guessing words on the 2315 list.
So, all 17 words were unplayed words from that list.
All my calculations for a second guess are based only on those words.
I don’t sweat the REPEATs or the ADDs until I rule out these words.
It’s an %82.1 chance that it isn’t either.

Just put your numbers into Excel (or Google Sheets).
Add up all your guesses. 1X number of ones, 2X number of twos, etc. (Assume all your losses are 7’s). Divide by the number of days you have played.

Yeah, I can use the stats to do about the same thing. What I don’t know out of my 1232 plays is how many 7s… maybe a half dozen. I’ll go with that; happy to just keep avg under 4.

I’m surprised it doesn’t tell you the number of losses
You could just total up the number of 1’s, 2’s….through 6’s and subtract that number from 1232 and that should be the number of losses.
You can cross verify that with your winning percentage which should be the number of 1’s through 6’s divided by 1232.
