I thought a quick way to check would use the Five Forks Wordle filter:

I got 272 matches. Then I manually counted the repeat “@”s and counting 4 got: 272 – 4 = 268. With today that’s 269. Reconciled!
I see what happened, there are apparently 3 days that had 2 different words and are labeled as the same number but have “a” or “b” on them.
I’m on my phone so I just took the first word and last words in the alpha column and subtracted them from the numbers in the chrono column. Missed those double days.
Still, only saw 3. So idk, the exact number isn’t important. The issue is why there are so many S-words.

Salon led to 5 words not on the PUL: Scoop, Shook, Shoot, Spook, Stoop. Spook as a noun has a negative history, but I didn’t rule it out as it’s also a common verb. Thankfully, I found Epact for a burner.
I’m still test driving RAISE as a starter. I solved it again on paper using Raise, Clout, which led to only 2 possible answers not on the PUL: Scoop and Shock. Impressive!

🤯 as usual, i started down by the creek. saw the ‘c’ (c saw? 🤓) so i used the ffdf to start by sliding it right one position (?c???) and hit on a small collection of played ‘sc’ words. i consulted the original word list grid for unplayed options and was leaning toward scamp but then saw scoop. i double checked the last played words list for recent o’s and decided to go with the double ‘o’ word first. 🎲🎲🤞⚡️🎯

Yes, my middle brother and younger sister also got them in 2. All 3 of us were happy because we blew away our youngest brother who is a wizard and almost always beats us.

Nice! My sister’s start is SALET. I have been telling her for years she’ll never get a Wordle in 1, but she doesn’t care. I have never had a consistent starter, except for really early on when I used ADIEU for a while. Once I realized that wasn’t a very good start, I decided to switch them up.
