went with ones that looked like winners…nope, not today!hmmm, would be really interesting to see orbit as tomorrow’s solution. have there been any like that where the next day’s word is primarily a reorder of the prior day’s word?

DUNCH is a preplanned burner word designed to give me this solution in 3 except for when the answers are FUROR and JUROR.
I couldn’t have played this in hard mode (obviously)
In the words left, 4 have N, 3 have U, 3 have D, 2 have C (Only HYDRO has an H)
Matching none of them leaves only BROIL.
With BROIL off the board, I can go back to DROWN which still hasn’t been played.
FUROR and JUROR remain a possible 4 (if I guess wrong)

I am also considering “CRONY” for this pattern. Might be better than “DROWN” in case of a REPEAT. The odds on words that haven’t been played is the same.

🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧I should have waited to wake up more before playing. After STEAL I forgot to check against this list and guessed CHOIR, which left only the answer.
But STEAL left 20 possible, only 4 unused: BROIL, GRILL, IDYLL, VIGIL. I likely would have guessed one of the first two (hungry?), so I might have had it in two.

Sven, I got it in 3 after GRILL 2nd, but I only thought of 3 of those words. Thanks for mentioning IDYLL, which I will keep in mind next time I get a green L.

Might they repeat CIGAR #0 06/19/21 a third time to celebrate the fifth anniversary? They may also use FIFTH #1427 05/16/25, but that’s a year 4 word.
