“Back to Daily List” button is sweet! And efficient. Thank you.

My sister monitors the After Party. Today she shared her Grid Art with her 3 bros (and beat us!)

My third choice was between CABIN and MAFIA and I chose CABIN because of the wholesomeness of it. 🙄

-
Similar pattern to mine.
I avoided MAFIA vs CABIN for letter frequency reasons.
I would rather guess the C and N vs. the M and F.
The last time this happened on 6/2. I had the choice between CABIN, BASIS and MAFIA. I picked CABIN that time too, because I didn’t want to go with “SS” when I had not guessed that letter yet.

Unrelated side note, Kim.
I’ve seen you refer to an “unused word” list that you reference. How does that work, or is there a link to a web site that has this sorcery?

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 MafiaCrane, Toils, got it down to 2 words not on the PUL. Ms. Bennett seems to generally avoid words with a negative connotation, so I tried Pizza before Mafia. Perhaps the Mafia doesn’t mind a little free publicity. 🙂
-
I avoided MAFIA for the same reason. Tracy tricked us again!

In some circles, they call her “Tricky Tracy”.

What circles are those? 😉😆

⬛⬛⬛🟨⬛ TREAD
⬛⬛🟨⬛⬛ POACH
🟨🟩⬛⬛🟩 FAUNA
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 MAFIA[Parking Garage Attendant]
I’m starting to DREAD the solitary misplaced A.
After the second guess I felt like there was going to be a double letter. But I was not expecting the double A. I was just trying to nail the vowels down.
As for the misplaced consonant, I was literally like, “What? … The F?” 😁
-
I have no idea why I capitalized ‘dread’, aside from it being spelled similar to TREAD. … Guess I’m still tired.
-
😂
-
Are the 2 yellow squares on rows 1 & 2, the gate rising (or lowering) after you pay the parking attendant?
-
That was how I imagined it.
-
And that’s how I saw it. Nice!
-
-
-
I also tried fauna on my third attempt after bouncing an A around and lo! Same result
-
I actually thought I might have found the solution when I thought of FAUNA. Oh well, another time.
Happy enough to get a 4 and keep my average level.

That would be considered a “Lazy F” in cattle branding.

I have considered that brand, but someone else had it. my birth name started with F

🤯 wow, did not see that one coming. chased the “i” all across the grid.
like jeb, i even tried an instant repeat in slot #5.i definitely did not expect to see a word loaded with such intense connotations…and grimaced as i pressed enter for try #6. 🧐🤷♂️

sUmmer of U-words from Professor Mike – jUne 8; UNION sponsored by 1st Shift/OceaniaPHEW indeed! I should have remembered MAFIA because it was a recent guess word, so I knew it was a possible solution. I have a hard time thinking of it as anything but an upper-case word. When John F. Kennedy was president, his many Irish-American associates were called Irish Mafia (often capitalized).
The good news is it’s a checkmate six 🙂
Good ☀️/🌃 to all!-
Pattern looks like Cirque du Soleil acrobats w one balancing another on their arms and legs.

I enjoy the pictures that you and other commenters find in our grids! I need to exercise my imagination a bit more!
-
Good one! I can see that!

-
Interesting since it was the Italian mafia that got him elected (and possibly murdered if you believe the conspiracy theories)
-
Not clear on the “mafia got him elected” part (I thought it was machine politics in Cook County (Chicago) that did it in a very tight race.)
Anyway I’m reading Case Closed by Gerald Posner, a sane well-researched book which I am letting put paid to all the theories. It will be my last look at the matter.-
Who do you think ran the Chicago machine politics in the 60’s?
They literally stuffed the ballot boxes too. They took names of the dead and they voted too. This is why if you want to stay politically active after death, live in Chicago!
Illinois was a swing state in 1960.
Also, Sam “Mooney” Giancana got his buddy “Frank Sinatra” to campaign on Kennedy’s behalf especially in PA.
The “Outfit” (once Capone’s gang) was at the height of it’s power in the 1960’s.
-
Well, shucks! All this time I’ve blamed it on Mayor Richard J. Daley (Richard J. Daley was born in Bridgeport, a working-class neighborhood of Chicago. [3] He was the only child of Michael and Lillian (Dunne) Daley, whose families had both arrived from the Old Parish area, near Dungarvan, County Waterford, Ireland, during the Great Famine. [from Wikipedia]
Back to Case Closed 🙂
-
In the late 80’s, I lived on Emerald St. for a summer in Bridgeport down the street from the Daley’s.
No doubt, Mayor Daley and the Outfit had a working relationship. I don’t think he had much of choice.

I really didn’t think she’d use mafia – but opted for that choice luckily

Jeb, is there a way to put a button at the top of the daily After Party pages to jump to the bottom or to the Leave a New Comment section? I like to post my comment before reading all the others, but it seems like I have to scroll endlessly to get there. Okay, not endlessly, but multiple times.
-
Well it seems like breaking in line 😉 but I put a link on the word “post” at the top that should help. 🤫
-
And actually, it’s not a bad idea because you can then scroll up chronologically after posting. Might turn that into a button!
-
👍 good plan.
as the activity increases so does the travel distance to opine. 😎 -
Exactly! My fingers thank you.
-
-
I agree. I have to scroll a bit to add my daily posting.
