If you notice any change in how emojis or green / yellow grids display *OR* if you notice a change in page speed (good or bad), can you let me know here? Thanks! — Jeb

P.S. For curious geeks – this is what kralc noticed and what I did.

    1. Jeb,
I wouldn’t call myself a geek, but I like looking behind the curtain to see how things are found and taken care of. Good for both kralc and you!

STEAL and MYOID left 16 possible, 11 used.

Among CLACK, CLANG, CLANK, FLACK, RALPH, I tried CLANK. So close.

I see an unbalanced governor, causing irreparable damage, that will lead to a loud CLANG.

Waking up in downtown Seattle after last night’s Joe Jackson concert (excellent!) the sound of delivery trucks clanging in the street below inspired this Wordle in 2:

      Nice 2!

      – – – –

I was generally into faster music back in the day. But recently I’ve developed quite the respect for Joe Jackson’s sound. His lyrical structure and vocalizing reminds me of Elvis Costello.

Most music shows I’ve seen have been in the Seattle area. A lot of talent goes there. The audiences tend to be subdued, but they’re still appreciative.

    3. Excellent!

    ⬜⬜🟩⬜⬜ ROATE
    ⬜🟩🟩🟨⬜ SLACK
    🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜ CLAIM
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 CLANG

    Ugh! Another 4!

ROATE leaving an A in the right positions leaves me 20 words.

SLACK narrowed it down to CLAIM and CLANG.

So, of course, bad luck dictates that I pick the wrong word.

      πŸŸ©πŸŸ©πŸŸ©β¬›β¬› CLASH
      🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 CLANG

I, too, thought of starting with ROATE because of the A. Something told me to switch the letters.
#1 ORATE – I got the A in the right spot. Sensed it would be the only vowel. Used DF to try words with consonants on either side of the A. I put in C as the first letter and got two that did not have R, which had been eliminated. CLAMP was one…I chose the other one…
#2 CLASH – Aha! It’s so nice when you get the first three letters in the right spot! Used archive to check the word I had in mind.
      #3 CLANG – Cool! πŸ₯°

      1. For this one, ORATE and ROATE produced the same result.

Your choice of consonants around the β€œA” word was a much better choice than mine for this puzzle.

I played SLACK, because there’s a lot of words that start with β€œS” in that pattern. L, C, K are very common as well.

FLACK and CLACK have yet to be played also. So, if the answer is one of those then I at least have a coin flip of solving it in 3 guesses.

    🟨🟨🟨🟨⬜ Lance
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Clang

Before my first guess, I review the answers for the past 7 days or so looking for common letters that are scarce. Usually, this does not pay off, however, today I used Lance for my first guess which led Clang or Clank. According to Google, Clang is the more common word; happy to get a 2.

    1. Great!

    2. I like that strategy.

Without my familiar order of letters I think it temporarily rewired my Wordle ESP ability. But I’ll stick with the new start word.

I switched to STEAL but for him it did not rewire, so he went to CLASP and when that hit, its anagram SCALP.

I bounce around on starters including my sib starters, so I can yell at them if it didn’t work out or thank them if it does. Today SCALP got me an immediate 11 words left, so I won’t yell at him. Still took me 5!
