I agree fully, esp. as in fully. When ending with a y there’s a good chance of also having a double letter right before. For me, after the 3rd guess all system bets are off and doubles, triples, double doubles are all fair game….but that’s just me. I’ll twist my brain like a pretzel to avoid doubles at all. Mummy was a strikeout for me back when.

Can’t believe it. Two days in a row, only 2 guesses. 🙂-
I usually average only one a month. Closest I’ve come was 2 weeks ago with laden & alley with a 4 for prude in-between. Two in a row is a rare bird indeed! Nice score!

(1) ROATE
(2) BONEY
(3) WOMEN-
Googled ROATE to see if same as rote. Oddly, the first definition given is used as a starter word for playing Wordle! A quick check for AUDIO, ADIEU and others produced no such definitions! Funny that!
-
I think it is supposed to be a rarely used spelling for “ROTE”. To be honest, I don’t even think it is a word.
I find words like this Words With Friends. Za is a word, but, really, it’s just slang for pizza. I don’t think this is a real word either.
It’s valid if the particular game allows it to be played whether it’s a word or not.
I’ve been playing ROATE since the beginning since I googled and found people who analyzed the 2315 list and found that this word eliminates the most answers on the first try.
E A R O T (in that order) are the most common letters in the 2315 list of answers.
With this word, I’ll never score a 1 though.
-
I’ve been using orate ever since my other “1st word” got used. I forget but it might have been scare.
Tried adieu for a while but it didn’t narrow down the 2nd word enough.-
I have thought about using ORATE instead.
I would have to change a lot in my spreadsheet.
Technically, ROATE gives you a few more greens than ORATE does, but I don’t know that makes it better.
It’s just a matter whether you get more mileage out of “R” or “O” being in the second position.

Sounds like a cologne advertisement. 🙂

There should be extra points if your guesses end up being a sentence!
-
Sounds like a badge possibility.

The past week solves read: Stand, weave, clump, snore, tweet drunk women! I’m guessing tomorrow’s word is enjoy! Ha!

Wordle 1,771 3/6*
⬛⬛🟨⬛🟨 AROSE
⬛🟨🟩🟨🟩 LEMON
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩Note to self: must try harder. Used word in #2 may be called lazy, perhaps?
-
While LEMON #567 is 2nd year past answer (so lessl ikely) it was a great filter according to WordleBot:
AROSE 111 words left
LEMON 1 word left! That’s a good use of a repeat word in my mind.

⬜🟩⬜⬜🟨 DOUSE

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩-
Trouble with using a double letter in first three guesses is if you miss, you miss twice. I avoid double letters unless it’s either apparent or I’m desperate, like 5th or 6th guess. It didn’t hurt you this time as you pulled a rabbit out of the hat. Nice going!
-
I usually have the same reluctance to use a double letter – for the reasons you stated… but sometimes the gut says ‘just do it’
I looked at _ome_ after having M at beginning & end, but just didn’t see the word (til too late) -
Playing a double letter can be OK if you already know it’s in the answer.
For example, if you match a green E in the 5th position on your first guess, it is entirely possible there is a second E in the word.
-
I will play double letters for placement. It has paid off on many puzzles. Sometimes even netting a surprise solve.
