π©π©π©π©π© STANDEven though I knew a repeat must be coming and that STANG is not generally considered proper English, I kept trying new words. Glad I finally tried the right one.
-
First guess left 11 options, but 10 had been used. Looked at when they were used before to narrow it to three I thought most likely, but decided to use a burner word to narrow it down. It left only the answer.
-
When NYT announced that they would start repeating words, they also said there might be some days when the word was related to the real world. The closest I have noticed so far was βbloomβ on valentines day, but that may have just been a coincidence. Has anybody else noticed anything on that front?

A repeat following a new word add two days in a row!
Your list helped me decide on stand over stank as my guess, but I was wondering if Tracey would pull a double add and tempt-ed to use Stang. I decided she would not do that to us yet.-
I had the same decision as you.
Ultimately decided that STANG was not a likely add. Past tense of STING is STUNG. STANG is a bit more rare.
She’s done 2 ADD’s in a row before, but this is the first time it’s been an ADD followed by a REPEAT.
Now I think it will be about 10 days before either unless she’s picking up the rate a little bit.
We’re pretty close to %75 of the original 2309 (once you subtract the 6 NYT removed) words being played.

Same start word, but you went straight to it while I stupidly tried an unused first. I KNEW it would be a repeat, but still tried SLANT. π€¦π»ββοΈπ

Well, I didnβt know for a fact, but based on the pattern of repeats it seemed highly likely.

-
Interesting, not one letter in the right place! Not revealing your starters allowed me to try to guess what they were. Considering the odds are astronomical, I came up with somewhat reasonable ones, LAPSE #1 and DONUT #2. Close?
-
Haha, yes very close. RAISE and DONUT.

π©π©π©π©π© STANDMy very rare 3. Mostly I’m 4-5-6. Never 2 and only once guessed right on the first try.
-
A 3 is my favorite. You get a little more skill and play time in than a 2 or 1. Congrats!
-
-
(1) ROATE (Narrows it down to SHALT, STALK, SLANT)
(2) SLANT (Rules out all the above! Must be a repeat or an add! STAND(57), STANK(1707), STANG unlikely? derivative word. past tense.
(3) STAND (earliest repeat)
-
STAFF was used #34
-
Thanks. I am not sure how I missed that one. Perhaps, lucky that I did!
-
Oh, I know why. I had the “N” in “SLANT”.

Close but no CIGAR!

Brilliant Wordle repeat pun!

π©π©π©π©π© STANDI thought itβd be a repeat. When that wasnβt it I chose staph – new word. Then went back to earliest option on PU words. Some luck for sure.

π©π©π©π©π© STANDIs there a calendar or graph somewhere that shows the dates or frequency/interval rate for reused words?
-
I want to maintain a “stats” page that would have repeat analysis. This isn’t it, but it’s a start:
Prev Repeat | Next Repeat | Days Between
CIGAR (1689) – SQUAD (1704) = 15 days
SQUAD (1704) – AWAKE (1708) = 4 days
AWAKE (1708) – LINEN (1718) = 10 days
LINEN (1718) – GRADE (1730) = 12 days
GRADE (1730) – IVORY (1742) = 12 days
IVORY (1742) – COMET (1745) = 3 days
COMET (1745) – SANDY (1750) = 5 days
SANDY (1750) – STAND (1765) = 15 days-
Cool, thanks! If there’s a human involved in the decision-making when to repeat a word, they probably have a subconscious pattern.
-
The highest level stat I update daily at the top of the list is Repeat Rate. It has hovered around 10% to 12% chance of repeat. Conversely, the odds of the answer being a new word (not on list) is about 89%. Should we ever approach 50% repeat rate, the Five Forks Wordle list utility goes way down in terms of odds.
-
I’m curious of the list mentioned not of repeat words. Is there a list of future words? Another by Tracey? Adds? I’m out of the historic loop, or confused!

For me the big takeaway was that STAPH is a possible solution, even though there will be a lot of grumbling about βabbreviations.β
Weβll have a little breather for a few days without repeats, I hope!-
Correction: Second word was STAIR.

2nd correction: Solution should have been STAND!
