took me a while to figure this out… I’ll let Jeb reply

      2. When I play, I record the guesses I consider in order. The 1, 2, 3, 4 end up being my guesses. The others I considered, but were typically blocked by being on the list where I record the #. I may go back to one later.

It summarizes “list utility” in a way.

        1. I do use repeat words at times, and the Play Log shows that.

        2. Got it. Thanks for your explanation.

    β€œOne away!”

WordleBot reaction to LATEN: “Wordle typically uses more common words as solutions.” To me, both words seem more literary than commonly used….

    1. COCA scores (word frequency)
      PMW (Per Million Words) per
      https://www.english-corpora.org/coca/

      LADEN: 14.755 PMW

      LATEN: 0.11 PMW

      1. Gemini screwed up again.

COCA score on LATEN is actually 0.003 PMW (much worse).

Sometimes I have trouble navigating to the frequency page on COCA so I asked AI. Mistake.

Thanks for the link to COCA. I opened an account to investigate it, but I’ve found that the mathematical approach to Wordle doesn’t really work for me. I think WordleBot uses frequency in New York Times (since 2000?), but I couldn’t find the way to check this.
If you are interested, Wordle Tools has been helpful to me.
        https://wordletools.azurewebsites.net/

        1. For me, all these games are about mathematics and probability.

Guess the most common letters in the most common positions for those letters.

Guess the words that are more common.

          It works well for me.

          ==================
Thank you for your link! I will dig into these tools and see if they can help me be even better.

It makes sense that Wordle Bot would check words vs. the NYT since they are the NYT.

  4. Added Word today? It will be 5 days since the repeat.

HI JD – where do i find the list please – I’ve never checked it (no point using words that aren’t on it … excluding Douse)
      Thanks

      1. Google of “Wordle 2315 list Github” gives you this link

        https://gist.github.com/DevilXD/6ad6cc1fe37872d069a795edd51233b2

Copy and paste into Notepad or Excel. I put into Notepad and sent it to myself and got into a file under “Notes” app on my iphone.

Then, you merely have to check Five Forks to see if it’s been played and 2315 list to see if it’s part of the original answer set.

Bear in mind that NYT removed 6 words from that answer list. SLAVE, WENCH, LYNCH, PUPAL, FIBRE, FETUS (324.1)

        So, it’s really 2309.

Ah, thank you…. just had to check that Douse isn’t on there – its not….. but my other one is…

and having consulted the list – my 04/10 solve was not on it…go figure ??!

          1. Don’t feel bad.

I use ROATE which also isn’t on there.

I think the anagram ORATE has been played already (need to check).

    2. No Add or Repeat today.

      ROATE

      1. So, I was one day off on the ADD. CAROM on 4/10/26
