After Cleat I made a long list of possible answers. It was a busy day so I got back to Wordle late in the afternoon and toiled on it for 2 hours, choosing Wrack for a guess/burner. Then I redid Wordle on paper with my fave pair of Cleat and Rosin. This would have given me a Green O and a 5-minute solve! 🤣

A certain Red Sea port is in the news today. Coincidentally, it’s the place that gave mocha coffee its name.

I always thought it was some chocolate / coffee mash up word. Never stopped to think: “no em.”

Yeah, I checked in a couple of online dictionaries to make sure. Confusingly, the word “mocha” can be used to mean several different things. The original meaning was a certain variety of high-grade coffee beans, normally exported through the port of Mokha, but nowadays when you see the word on a menu it’s probably being used in the completely different sense of a coffee and chocolate mixture.

Three didn’t quite make the average, but Wordlebot also took three, so I don’t feel too bad.
I noticed that Wordlebot’s word after STILE failed was CARNY. Checking on Fiveforks, that indispensable site, I found that AMOUR, CARNY, and TAROT are all unused.
I find the Bot’s NYT average iOS always off early in day. As of now the number of people picking Mocha as third guess is 27.9 and fourth is 76.4. so there’s no way the average is under 3.
Plus with an M and Y and only one of the letters I think of as standard, how many people will pick Moray on there second guess?
My third guess was also Moray …
Not a stats person myself, but I do like the flow of numbers so that’s my logic.
I noticed that, too. The NYT average is not up to 3.9 based on 4,9xx players. It’s not even taking the whole pool of players to get at this score.

Yesterday I commented SCALP would have been the better second word for this pattern instead of SCAMP. Today SCAMP would have been better. And worse still POACH, the word that had been my go to second, would have made for a sure 3.
The floating A has definitely been a weak spot for TREAD. Would be nice to just get it in one and move on to something else.

The blue new comments count and the yellow navigation are wonderful.
They make being so many hours ahead livable. I can seamlessly catch up on yesterday’s activity when I wake each morning. They also give others a chance to read my comments which are often late due to my being asleep when the conversations are happening.
I think there are other applications that could implement similar.
As you can see today I have resorted to posting this on today rather than adding to yesterday’s conversation so that it is more likely to be read by more.
I am still thinking about two solves at the same time but it is so much easier to navigate.
