Sometimes I wish we had SNOWY days here, but mostly not. 🫤 Luckily, I’m close enough to the Sierras that I can make a quick ☃️ if I get a hankerin’.

pardon me. i am looking for the ffap gpc 🚔. i found this “g” on the sidewalk buried slightly in the snow ❄️. i believe it may have been wounded by an apostrophe. i was hoping to find the owner. can you help me? 🤷‍♂️😉😎

      1. A gpc 🚔 report on the hankering injury has been filed.

        Report received. 🧾
👮🏻🧐🫆Investigative Findings: Upon arriving on scene, the displaced g appeared to have no injuries beyond a touch of frostnip at the tip of the descender. g stated they were fine and refused transport to typesetter for inspection and/or treatment. While beginning to question g about their welfare, apostrophe arrived on scene and exclaimed that g had not returned at their previously agreed upon swap time and location so they followed the descender prints in the snow which lead them to the scene. Apostrophe admitted to replacing g for that particular appearance, but stated the switch was entirely amicable and was only a one off occurrence. At that time, apostrophe was released as they were determined to be truthful and not at fault for g’s predicament. Upon questioning, g admitted to “tying one on” with a wayward snowman and had no recollection of the pair parting ways or how they ended up on the sidewalk sprinkled with snow. FFAP GPC attempted to locate snowman for questioning, but believed they had been absorbed into the banks. Report closed and passed on to FFAP Grammar Teacher for further evaluation in determining if any malicious intent was involved in the swapping of g with apostrophe. ✍️👮🏻

i sure hope no one gets in trouble for this, with their folks i mean. i believe i do know this frosty individual you mentioned in your incredibly thorough report. he looks jolly and harmless but can be a problematic influence on our youth, requiring consonant vigilance. 🤷‍♂️😉

I almost started with snowy. I’ve started with it before several times, most recently on September 2nd.
Then I thought, no we had a S___Y with an O this month already. If it’s S today, it should be something different.

No way no way no way no way no way no way no way no way no way no way no way no way no way no way no way

    1. an S*

    2. If you started with SNOWY, then you wouldn’t have gotten a 3!

        Ha-ha. Good 👉!

      2. I still want to get it in 1. Played the list for years trying to get it (that’s part of why I use it and hate repeats) it’s really only 2s that I don’t like

        1. So, if you don’t get it in 1, then guess a plural word on guess 2 ending in S (e.g. BOATS). That will lead to fewer 2s.

          1. Must only play words that can solve, so no

        2. I must have missed something. Why would you have a problem with 2’s?

          1. I favor 3’s myself. 1’s and 2’s are too much luck, not enough play, and the art grid is too small.

Although a 2 is a nice surprise. And for me a 1 has only happened once when I gambled on Groundhog Day which NYT hinted (told?) would be the first repeat day.

Usually when I strike out with cleat I use irons and bot prefers noirs. So today I tried noirs, but no, the bot was still not happy and decided prion would have been better 🙄

    1. Based on OG NU’s,

IRONS has a green score of 140

NOIRS has a green score of 146

So, it’s only a slight improvement over IRONS.

This is because it puts I in the optimal position (3rd) which scores 60 on it’s own.

      Alternative words to consider:

IRONY #433, NOISY #1548, RISKY NU OG!, ROSIN 55%.

      1. Just realizing that ROSIN is another anagram of IRONS.

It’s green score is 141, but at least it has an outside shot of being the answer. (not as good as RISKY which is less risky. LOL.)

      1. I could see that.

My approach to Wordle art is the yellows are things that are dynamic or with dynamic potential, or that they are things apart from the ground or larger body, or something to be highlighted for some reason on the ground or larger body.

So in this case, the head is highlighted as being not properly tucked during the pike position of a dive.

        But snowmobile works too. 🙂

No flakes here yet! But, flash back to the year that just kept on givin’, 2020. We had snow on June 8th and again on September 9th. Not just a few flakes mind you, but inches. That was extreme even for life here at 7200 ft. So today when I was deciding whether to play snowy I thought surely not. 🤷‍♀️

    ⬜⬜⬜🟨⬜ RAISE
    🟩⬜⬜🟨⬜ STUNK
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 SNOWY

It is nice to cross one of these words of this list of 28 OG words.

Last time I got this pattern, it was a REPEAT (FOCUS) when I got a 5.

STUNK is the best filter (along with SHOCK). Not SHOCKingly, 19 of these words start with S. STUNK gives me 3 in only 11 cases, and now it will be 10.

The best case scenario usually is coming out on the plus side of a 50-50, because usually, that’s a 3, and the odds of getting a 3 increase next time that pattern emerges. Getting the guaranteed 3 is ironic, because your odds of a 3 decrease a bit (although the odds of a 2 uptick very slightly) on the next word returning S in the wrong position. That pattern is the 3rd worst for RAISE.

Haere mai!(a) Glenda here from Auckland, New Zealand, heading off in my togs and jandals(b) to one of our fabulous west coast beaches, a mere 30 minutes away.

I’ll grab some fish and chips from the Piha Surf Club to eat with a liberal squirt of tomato sauce and lemon and a cold tinny from my chilli bin(c).

I’ll kick back on the black sand with my gaze westward to Aussie, the land I once called home, and watch the glorious sunset out beyond the breakers.

Ah, doesn’t get much better than this.

      1. I’m not one who ever had that speculation, Jeb. Super weird thought, really.
But – NYC is like the biggest melting pot of diversity in the USA, so if I was one of them a New Zealand accent wouldn’t deter me.

I was born a Kiwi, and moved to Aussie in 1979, and totally lived my best years there (until the wheels fell off big time) dwelt in the UK for a time & travelled a bit from there before returning to Aussie. Headed back home to NZ in 1998, had my daughter Jan 2000 (born on Australia Day!)
My gran was an Aussie – so much affinity with that land.

Ah, six, of course – I was trying to weave in the obvious words – that’s a miss ….

          1. Hi Glenda. Hope you didn’t mind my doing an Aussie version of your story.

      4. Come on guys! the “TB is one of us” discussion is a joke that I started.

(Did you get that, Tracy? Fly under the radar; so, we can’t figure out which one of us is actually you.)

        1. Says someone who posts as a two-letter name. 😁

          1. Would I talk to myself?

            Why, yes? Yes, I would.

Beautiful. There’s a reason why I have all of my bots set with an Australian accent and I watch every Australian movie I can find. So sooooothing! Plus there’s Hugh Jackman … 🤤

Well… a lesser known fact and speaking of whales: I eloped & got married in the majestic mountains of Kaikōura. Wedding=Gorgeous. Divorce=Ugly. 💩

      7. As an Aussie I would have said:
Hi. This is Meg from Canberra, the capital of Australia.
I am heading down in my swimmers and thongs to one of our fabulous east coast beaches a mere 2 hours away.
I’ll grab some fish’n’chips from the take away to eat smothered in dead horse and a cold coke from the esky.
I’ll relax on the white sand looking eastwards towards NZ, the land that I once toured, and watch the glorious sunrise.
