Through wordtips I saw that ASPIC was a possibility. So it was a potential ADD, not on the original list.
My question, how did someone know ASPIC and others are potential ADDS? Did NYT announce it? How did someone learn of these potential ADDS ?

Hi John,
There are various ways of knowing if a winning word is an ADD or from the OG. For me, I try to keep a list in my 🍎notes of possible ADDs every time I play—the NYT bot analysis lists all the possibilities after each play. Its dictionary is much bigger than the OG words so I call those extra words “possible ADDs”.After the play, I know a word is an ADDs if it is not on the original list. I have the original alphabetized list because the NYT posted it on the Wordle page the first year or two—it wasn’t a secret. At some point, they removed it, but many of us had saved it and it’s still available in many places online.
I personally do not know of any list of definitive possible ADD words online—but I bet it exists somewhere.
Others on here have much more information about the various other lists—there is a discussion about it on 8/18. I don’t go that granular with my list other than above.

I found a misprint in your list… ASPIC was word number 1884 yet on your list to the left you have it listed as 1883.

WOW! Just saw the note about The ASPIC After Party on the main page and came to see everyone’s results!For what it’s worth, here is my take…
I chose a word with I and E to start. I looked at my word list and didn’t see one that looked right. Just went with the first one that came to mind.
#1 TRIED – A measly I. Time to think outside the box. Was A the other vowel? Went to the filter tool for help. It’s great that you can enter the letters you already eliminated. Too many words with AI that would not work. What if the word started with A and had an S? Tried AS??? and got ASSAY. But, I needed the word to have an I. Hmmm…
#2 ASPIC – It just jumped in my head! It’s a word I know well from crosswords; although, I doubted it was the answer. But, maybe it would get me close. I was shocked when it all went green! 😮-
Same thing happened to me although I had the A and S (but in the second and third spots). But just a wild out of the box guess and voila. I was flabbergasted…
Was the sort of a three day run of getting it inb2… have I jinxed myself? -

The veggies were chopped up celery and carrots and we had to at least taste it. It looked weird and the taste was disgusting! When I saw that Aspic was a possible answer, I felt a little wave of nausea, but I definitely knew the meaning!

I was bad at home-ec class in Junior High. Another guy and I missed out on making toaster oven pizzas because we were still making our aprons.
Somewhat of the classic backfired lesson of you can’t have your pudding until you’ve eaten your meat. Didn’t exactly enamor us with home-ec or school.

It is oft called black pudding, too. My kiddo just got back from Ireland and she had sausage pudding which is suet, grains, and often blood. She said it tasted as bad as it sounds and kind of reminds me of the haggis 🤢 I also had in Scotland. The germans have headcheese (not to be confused with wisconsin cheesehead 🧀). So, many gross ways cultures have come up to use the entire animal and waste nothing.

Except it’s very very good source of collagen for skin hair and nails. I grew up not wasting any part of the animal no matter how nasty. Headcheese was consumed by our family. It’s full of aspic. Mom despised it but Dad said it’s food too so he got his way. I remember they didn’t talk to each other for quite some time after the headcheese fight.

I still try to rule out unplayed 2315 words first though.
So, is not only a PI word, its a C word and a S word.
I was tempted to play COPSE yesterday and went with COUPE 2 days ago, because I thought there would be both a P and a C in the word, and here we have a PC word!
So, RAISE leaves only SIGMA, SLAIN and VISTA. Playing any of the 3 would leave the other.
SLAIN is more common and plays the tier 2 letters L and N.
SLAIN put the I in the right position at I4. This rules out SIGMA and VISTA.
Now, its either and ADD or a REPEAT. Except that the only words that fit are ADDS.
ASPIC(56%), ASDIC, ASPIS, APSIS, APHIS, OSSIA, OSTIA.
ASPIC is the only word with a Weighted Bottle score. The others aren’t even listed.

Jeb, I thought the whole point of the shortened Wordle answer list was to eliminate the most obscure words. One of these words is not like the other. I don’t like some of these added words that are so obscure. They just don’t belong in the spirit of Wordle. What do you think?

I don’t use a list outside of the previously used list. So for me there are no ADDs. They’re just words.
I know the word ASPIC. And I’m a looong time vegan/vegetarian, and a lousy cook of simple foods.
But, I’d argue that semi obscure words aren’t that much of problem as far as Wordle as a puzzle game is concerned. As I write this no one here has scored higher than 4/6.
It’s always going to be the trap words that are the bane of us Wordlers.
I’d bet we’d all do better with a surprise appearance of FROYO than a repeat of EAGER.
