But That sort of hurt. We just got home from maui and I am wearing an βAlohaβ shirt as I played this.
And I used aloha as a starter multiple times while we were in Maui πππ-
The irony! πΊπΊ

That threw me a bit. Was expecting a β»οΈ, not an β, though I like it.

Wordle 1,862 4/6
β¬β¬β¬π¨π¨ Steal
π¨β¬β¬β¬β¬ Orcin
π¨π¨π¨β¬β¬ Loamy
π©π©π©π©π© AlohaSteal and Orcin led to 9 words, 7 of which had been used, leaving Aloha and Loamy. According to βProfessor Google, βLoamy is on the NYT list of possible answers. Loamy also had the higher letter by position score, which may or may not be a variable Ms. Bennett looks at. I used it for my third guess because Ms. Bennett seems to lean towards more obscure words, buy not today. Aloha to all!
-
What is LOAMYβs Weighted Bottle score?
-
Iβm sorry I donβt know what the Weighted Bottle Score is! I know you must have mentioned it before. Pls share it again. Thnx!
-
Me too. Was embarrassed to admit it. Was hoping I would eventually guess as it kept on being mentioned.
-
-
-
LOAMY is nearly %57.
%58 is maximum.
Donβt ask me why they picked %58.
Iβm still trying to understand it myself.
Gemini says itβs something that the programmers do.
Iβll keep investigating that one.
================
If I had played ROATE, I would have ended playing AIOLI instead of ALOHA, because itβs WB is higher.
-
-
-
Iβm not Hawaiian, and therefore never use that word. Kind of obscure to me, lol, though Iβve heard of it if course

Wordle 1,862 3/6
β¬β¬β¬π¦π¦
β¬β¬π§β¬β¬
π§π§π§π§π§STEAL, MYOID left four possible. ALONG, ALOOF, FLORA were all used, but ALOHA was an add.

1462: TAUPE (ADD)
1562: GOOEY
1662: OOMPH (ADD)
1762: CUBIT (ADD)
1862: ALOHA (ADD)
For the past year and a month, every solution ending in 62, with the exception of GOOEY (09/28/25) has been an ADD. Is this a pattern the editor has been establishing? Could we expect an ADD on 11/02/26? (#1962)-
Interesting observation!
-
Strange β¦ do we need one more non-ADD on a xx62 to compute the pattern?
-
See comment above

Be careful with this one, I thought there would be a REPEAT on 5/5, because someone pointed out REPEATS on 2/2, 3/3, and 4/4.
No REPEAT on 5/5.
Tracy is definitely playing this game of Mastermind.
This explains all the double letter answers. There are only %20 of the words with double letters, but more than %60 of recent answers have been double letters. She is trying to foil those who avoid them.

Wordle 1,862 3/6*
β¬π¨β¬β¬π¨ EARTH
β¬β¬π¨β¬π© SCHWA
π©π©π©π©π© ALOHASo Iβve discovered a new power word. I always start with EARTH, that H wild card in the last position, along with two good consonants in R and T plus vowels E and A. I then select my 2nd word based on what comes up from guess 1. Iβve been looking for something good when the A and H come up, and SCHWA is the ticket. It certainly saved me on PSHAW day, and helped me solve in 3 today π
-
Nice start strategy. Welcome to the AfterParty PWG!
-
HASTE served me very well for a long time until it was my first Wordle in 1. High use consonants. Strong vowel positions. And if the H hit I was almost guaranteed to know CH, SH, TH, or lone H, ignoring the rare PH. ALOHA might have thrown me a bit.
I originally chose HASTE as a reminder to myself to slow down with my Wordle guesses. But the word was so good, after the solve in 1, I switched to HASTY. But that only lasted a few months.
-
-
So is this one, ALOHA, considered an ADD? Use of a word not on original list?
-
Good questionβI donβt know.
-
Yes, John – as was SHILL only 4 days ago, much sooner than previous ADD frequency pattern
-
ADD rate went up to 1 in 5 words vs 1 in 13 words.
REPEAT rate stayed the same at 1 in 10 words.
This is per Wordle Tools.
Explains all the recent ADDs
I havenβt checked it in a few days though.
If the REPEAT rate drops, it may be a sign that she is hearing some feedback on the REPEATs (not necessarily from us)
-
thanks JD – nice to know
-
-
-
Correct. It is not part of the original solution set of 2315 words when Josh Wardle sold the game to NYT

β¬β¬β¬β¬β¬ MINED
β¬π©π©β¬β¬ CLOUT
β¬π©π©β¬β¬ SLOOP
β¬π©π©β¬β¬ GLORY
π©π©π©π©π© ALOHAAll UUs, but I swear weβve had this before. Also is mined a guess or a solve word? There are so many traps without -ED/-ER words I donβt see why it matters
-
Used wordgamesbot, on ultra mode (no repeats of any β¬οΈ or reusing π¨ in the same spot) only using non-repeats and words that donβt end in plural S, I had a perfect game.
Wordlebot said 98/99 when filtering for repeats (ik itβs obsolete now, but still) and 95 with repeats.
But when filtering for repeats it still likes βFLOORβ for a 99β¦ which has been used.. I donβt get it. But SLOOP & GLORY were the next top picks. Then It chose FLOWY which I didnβt think was a word but still gave GLORY a 99, leaving 1.
Pretty good-
agreedβ¦ the bot doesnβt make sense when filtering for repeats. What is wordsgamesbot / ultra mode of which you speak above?
-
Itβs sounds like a logic error in this tool.
I havenβt tried using any of these help tools myself. I made my own tool (my spreadsheet).

πOh where did I go wrong?
β¬π©π¨β¬β¬SLATE (NU: allay iliac claim clank flack aloha)
β¬π©π¨β¬β¬CLAIM (was this the best filter of the NU?)
π©π©β¬π¨β¬ALLAY (because an ending Y is more common)
π©π©π©π©π©ALOHA (only remaining NU)π€ got it in 2 saying βALOHA would have been more efficient. It has an O, which better narrows down the possible solutions, like ALLOW or ALOUD.β But wait, I am playing with π€ having prior knowledge in which case it would know that ALLOW and ALOUD were PU. So confused π΅βπ«
A case where more is less (or is it less is more?)
-
*aloha isnβt in the OG list though
-
No, it wasnβt.
Definite ADD.
Iβm starting to use that Weighted Bottles list you gave me. ALOHA had a high score
When I replayed it as ROATE, I would have played AIOLI which had a higher score than ALOHA. I would have had a 5.
-
-
Why does CLAIM, CLANK and FLACK even come up in the list of possibilities when you ruled out A in the 3rd position?
Based on your list ILIAC or ALOHA would have been the correct play.
-
OMG youβre right. Maybe I was solving for LA not La. π΅βπ« I just wasnβt playing with my head on straight. Also, I sometimes type in the words the bot says are left after SLATE into my chart which is why aloha was even there and then I never checked to see if it was on OG list. πΊπ Thank you JD Iβve fixed my chart because of your help! I should send YOU a cup of coffee/wine, too!

Wordle 1,862 4/6
β¬π¨β¬β¬β¬ RAISE
β¬π¨β¬π¨π¨ TONAL
π©π©β¬π¨β¬ ALLOW
π©π©π©π©π© ALOHARAISE leaves 17 words I care about.
TONAL is the perfect filter and would leave me a 3 in all cases but AUNTY and JUNTA.
TONAL ruled out all 17 words.
So, this an ADD or a REPEAT.
Even though the odds on ADDs were 1 in 5, the odds on REPEATs is still 1 in 9.5 and we havenβt had one in a while (maybe tomorrow)
I charted my letters.
Possible REPEATS are ALLOW (273), AGLOW (688), ALLOY (1811), ALOOF (951), ALOUD(502).
Possible ADDS are ACOLD, AHOLD, ALAMO, ALLOD, ALOHA
Earliest REPEAT was ALLOW(273) and it has the double letter! and the first word I thought of.
It wasnβt ALLOW.
That narrowed down to
ALAMO (WB – not listed)
ALOHA (WB – 56%)
ALOUD (502)I would have gone ALOUD, but it doesnβt have the double letter!
According to Weighted Bottles, ALOHA is more likely than ALAMO which isnβt even listed there.
I donβt remember the ALAMO since I havenβt beeb there! LOL.

Mike came up with an idea of a way to jump through “NEW” posts which I’m calling the NEW Hopper. This is especially useful if you come back to a long list with just a few scattered new posts.

It provides 2 was to use:
1. Use the next previous new buttons.
2. Do a page search for “-N”. The dash keeps you from finding New Zealand or other uses of New on the page.Thoughts?
-
Thank you Jeb and hope you get a lot of coffee for your good work!

Possible thought: Put the down arrow at the top of your home page, too.
