Thanks! I think luck is the biggest factor, but since I use a different start word each day I have more of a chance at a Wordle in 1 than those who have a standard start word.

Not sure. I’ve used it many times as a start. I just go by feeling. Maybe I was craving one that day. I love steak! 🥩 I was practically raised on T-bones, but that’s not an accepted word.

NYT AVG. 3.7Getting the first two letters in the first word was a huge advantage.
Snarky ol’ Wordlebot’s comment on STEER was “This was a good guess; STREP would have been more efficient. It has a P, which better narrows down the possible solutions, like STEEP.”
All well and good, but STEER was unused, and STEEP had been used at 1330 so I thought it was unlikely to be the answer.

STREP isn’t a great suggestion, because it isn’t on the 2315 list.
STEER is an unplayed word from that list and more likely to be the answer unless TB adds STREP (which she could.)

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 STEAK9.2% wordle players got it in 2 today which is higher than the norm. Steak was the only unused word from which to choose after slate (from the OG list).
My 2nd beat the bot badge—so they are remarking on the badge how many times I beat the bot, but not retroactively. Also, I don’t know if turning on the past answers toggle changes anything for the badge.

Interesting. I play it in Hard Mode and the setting “Use knowledge of past solutions.” In that mode, the Bot solved it in 2. As did I.However with the other setting the Bot solved it in 5. Still no award for me.

Interesting note… the WB shows everyone’s guesses, and STEAK is showing in 14th place for guess #1. STEAL is usually around #20, and STEAK is NEVER in the Top 20 for guess #1. It is 5:00 a.m. EDT. I will look again tonight to see if the first guesses adjust later

Right there with you for a 2. Our persistence paid off.
As of 8:15 am, for guess #1, STEAK is not in the Top 20. STEAL is #10.
For guess #2, STEAK is in 2nd place. I think it’s all those people who guessed STEAL first and use FF to cross check their answer. 😉-
It is 7:24 am central time and for me STEAK is still #18 for the first guess. Do you think that they use a different pool of players for each time zone?
