  4. Wordle 1,838 3/6

    🟨⬜⬜⬜🟨 RAISE
    ⬜⬜🟨⬜🟩 FREER
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 DEMUR

    Second day using RAISE.

RAISE leaves 16 words. (ROATE would have left 32 words! with a lot of β€œer” words too. It was a bad pattern for ROATE).

FREER gives me a 3 for 10 out of the 16 words. Pretty good odds %68 chance and a %6 chance of a 2.

It works because there are 8 occurrences of EE, and 4 of RR. FEMUR, FREED and FREER all start with F. FREER ends in ER and 8 words end in ER.

Not ending in ER, leaves only DEMUR and FEMUR, but I already played a word starting with F!

    So, only DEMUR remains!

For those who avoid double letters, I played a word with 2 double letters!

I see Jeb’s note that it’s International Joke Day. Here’s my son’s favorite joke:

What’s the hardest shape to get out of?

    A trapezoid.

    1. LOL! That’s good one.

      Congrats on the 2!

You didn’t fall into a trap this time for sure.

      1. Thank you! πŸ™‚

    2. BTW. How are you?

Didn’t you have Lyme disease? or do I have the wrong person?

      1. I feel a lot better!

Thank you for asking and remembering, JD.

The rash disappeared within a couple days of starting the doxycycline. My energy level and brain function returned (I think) within 4-5 days. If I still have any brain fog or fatigue from Lyme at this point, it’s very subtle.

I am grateful that we caught it early, three weeks after the bite, I think. I’ve heard of people who never get the rash so they are miserable for months or years before diagnosis, with permanent damage to the joints, heart, & brain.

The month of May was truly awful for me, like the worst flu ever. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. But the two weeks of antibiotics cleared up everything before it got worse.

Now I’m back to normal, whatever that is. πŸ€ͺ🫠πŸ₯΄

  17. On Monday Kim’s Wordle inspiration:

It began with conversation with Bally, my beautiful old rescued Scottish Fold cat. I asked her, β€œWhich word should I start my Wordle with this morning?” (

    )

I asked her if I could post a photo. She wrote back…

“Absolutely. This is Ballantine’s β€œBally” Scotch. I rescued her from the pound 10 years ago.”

I was about to post my wordle grid but you are in the wrong day Jeb, I don’t want to spoil for you.

      1. I posted it ahead of time on purpose to get a full day view!

Every now and then I β€œbeat” our down under crew for announcements.

        1. And thank you for your spoil concern. While I posted when there were 0 comments for that day, if I see there are future comments, you would laugh at how I hold up my hand in front of my Mac admin console to block the center content in case there are puzzles, avoiding spoilers. So post early and post often!

    5. Kim S Avatar

For the record, I want to express that I do not support the breeding of Scottish Folds. While they are obviously beautiful cats and they tend to have some interesting and fun quirks, they are one of many breeds of cats and dogs that were developed based on appearance and without regard for the health consequences of that look.

The reason their ears are folded is because of a genetic mutation that inhibits the normal development of cartilage throughout their body. So they are all born with a condition known as Scottish Fold osteochondrodysplasia (SFOCD). It is an incurable degenerative disease that can lead to bone and tail deformities, and severe osteoarthritis. They are also prone to polycystic kidney disease (which claimed my first rescued fold), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, ear and eye infections, and dental issues.

I got Bally when she was around three, and she soon began showing symptoms of arthritis. She has never been able to jump higher than my bed, has no interest in playing for more than five seconds, plods at a tortoise’s pace, and sleeps most of the time. At 13, she is now on five daily joint and muscle supplements, but is still in constant pain. We have tried several different pain meds, but my girl is sensitive and couldn’t tolerate them. So I’m simply keeping her as happy and comfortable as possible for as long as possible.

      1. Thank you for that additional information, Kim. She’s cute with her folds, but it is important to know this is not a healthy characteristic and should not be promoted. Meow.
