After the floating L from LUMEN, TRAIL was EAROT LISNC compliant and tried the L in position 5. With the yellow A, I, and L, I chose ALIAS next. Right track, wrong double letter. I often have a hard time finding ALIBI in Spelling Bee, so no surprise that I did not see it until it was inevitable. Very satisfying solve in four!

And so I overthought this one. Since we’re on the summer solstice, I thought “AXIAL” was more appropriate as the solstice has something to do with a tilt in the Earth’s axis.
Also, the starting A would lead to ALIBI or ending IAL would lead to ILIAC.
I should have just picked the earliest in the list.

wondered if father’s day would impact today’s word. 🤔😬🤷♂️
so i started my day as usual, down by the creek, looking to unearth ingots. after two attempts, i discovered that alibi was at the top of the unplayed list, both alphabetically and for potential connotation.
i, however, fancied the word quasi more and went with that for the three 🎲🎲.
well, with the “i” now nailed to the end and a floating “a” i knew the jig was up…and it was a tap in. ⛳️
that’s my story and i’m stickin’ to it. 😎

AXIAL would have been my next guess had ANIMA not removed the possibility of a second A (had to google the rules real quick there). I ended up being so focused on the lack of a second A that I forgot the possibility of another double vowel.
They should have a special color or something to indicate a non duplicate letter in the wrong position.
I find it confusing also.
