  1. sooo, when i saw the ff repeat index jump to medium today i felt like i was on the beach and a high surf flag was posted. was gonna go with ferry which seemed like a logical repeat possibly with a water theme and a low number. picked yearn instead with an even lower number and better letter array. while it didn’t hit it did lead right to the 🎯 😎

did someone say “…pieces of eight, pieces of eight”? πŸ¦œπŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ
      wow! woohoo!

      1. I only say that on Sept 19th (every year).

        LOL.

    3. Thanks, guys! Crowns look wonky on my curly hair, so I think I’ll pass on the coronation. I’m holding out for the nine pieces of eight, which means I’ve got one more to go before I can claim the booty. πŸͺŽ

    🟨⬜⬜🟨🟨 ROATE
    🟩⬜🟩⬜🟨 ESTER
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 ENTRY

ROATE narrows it down to 7 words.

ESTER (if it isn’t the answer itself) guarantees victory in 3.

3 of the remaining answers have EE. (Again, for those of you who love to avoid double letters.)

3 of the remaining solutions (until today) start with the letter E.

STEAL and ROUND left only 3 possible, but ENTER and INTER had already been used, leaving only ENTRY — and a picture of an arched doorway. Self-illustrating Wordle?

    1. Good job.

Why do your Wordle results have different colors?

      1. Wordle setting for “high contrast mode” (for “Contrast and colorblindness improvements”). My color perception is normal, but I always use such settings when possible to encourage their existence.

        1. I love that reason! I always assumed you were colorblind yourself.

    🟨🟨⬜⬜🟨 TRIBE 16
    ⬜🟨🟩⬜🟨 PETER 1
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

2nd day in a row TRIBE left too many options in guess 2. I’ll switch to TONER for ET words.
I may have gotten it in 3, but I just didn’t think of the word ENTRY today, or wasn’t willing to put in the time.

Side note: Because I consider Wordle to be in the β€œbrain game” category I don’t use solver or anagram tools, because that feels like cheating to me. Consulting the FF used words list is as far as I go, because the rules (used to) state words will not be reused, so fair play.
I don’t usually know how many options existed until after the fact when the Wordle bot tells me, lol

    1. Charles,
I agree with you about not using the solver or anagram tools as a personal choice. I rely on Five Forks list and keep up with the statistics on repeats (but I always keep in mind that abrupt changes are possible, remember SANDY?)

    2. Mike S Avatar

I was ENTRY blind today as well. ‘Putting in the time’ for me is writing down every possible remaining combination of letters just to catch what I’m missing. I’m seldom willing to do that though, usually just when I can’t think of any words.

I too only use the Five Forks word list for assistance, since I think the long term memory element of the puzzle is unreasonable without it.

But I’m only in competition with myself. So to each their own approach.

    3. I feel the same about using a solver tool. But I do use FF and the original 2315 list. I do these and other puzzles daily to keep my mind sharp, so it seems counterproductive to use more help than that.

TONER seemed to be the best EAROT LISNC compliant word that placed the floating consonants T and R in first and last positions. It turned out to lead to a checkmate 3 solution so CURST was not self-referential.

Word solver gave me two options: INERT and ENTRY.

However, the Bot said there was only 1 choice left meaning it didn’t recognize INERT (pu). Strange.

        Lots of wasps there, Sean!
Yes, game changed after allowing repeats. Someone once said here in After Party it felt less anxious the day after a repeat was used knowing it would be back to normal for a few days!

      2. Don’t sweat the REPEATS! That will make it easier for you.

        Assume they wont happen.

It’s nearly impossible to predict anyway.

    3. As the words fall off the original answer list, you should be able to get a lot more 2’s and 3’s, but it may be harder to think of them, because there are fewer to choose from.

So, harder? Perhaps, but with better results.
