CARLE chosen by Prof. MikeThis game turned out to involve the dreaded xAxER pillars of doom π±. My strategy was : no PU words as guesses, examine PU list alphabetically for words with second letter A and ending -ER, think of words not on PU list, note repeated consonants in order to eliminate multiple possible solutions and make guesses accordingly. For my fourth try, I remembered from WordleTools that one unknown word has been added to the solutions. I thought VAPER would be a good one; surely there would be few people who never heard of vaping (in fact I later found that VAPED is already on the solutions list). VAPER was not the solution, but that V led directly to it. I am very happy with this fivefer! I consider my Wordle games to be competing with myself, not others. In this, I agree with TB who has expressed a similar thought.
Good βοΈ/π to all!-
VAPER is not likely to be the solution any time soon.
It’s usage score is less than 7 in a billion. It’s also a “derivative” word of “VAPE”. I think there are fewer of those.
VAPOR on the other hand is on the 2315 list and is unplayed.

Hmmm. It says 2 left after RAVEN, but I only saw 1.

Also wader, waxer, who says only 2 left?
-
WADER AND WAXER wouldn’t fit after the second guess.
I made a similar mistake when I first looked at this and thought HAVEN, which also doesn’t fit.
Likely the other word is PAVER, as in a road or walkway stone. … Unless Wordle is a fan of The Proclaimers. Then it could be the more obscure HAVER, which rhymes with WAVER and means to talk nonsense.

I looked into “sharing my results” in the help section. They state there’s a share button at the bottom of results, but I don’t see anything.
-
First tap “See Results” then tap the “Share” button. From there I see my recent Contacts, AirDrop, Messages buttons, etc AND a “Copy” button below them at the bottom. I tap “Copy” then paste the results directly into After Party. You will only get the your results in colored squares/rows. The After Party format when commenting allows you to then type in your solve words to the right of the squares/rows and then add comments below that. Hope this helps!
-
Thanks, I didnβt see that button for some reason.

I thought going with a W on the third guess here was risky. Guess I wasn’t thinking risky enough.
A glimpse into my play style. I will almost never go -ER ending on a second guess. It always feels like a pit trap. I’d rather get what feels like better letter information before stepping off into that pit.

β¬β¬β¬β¬β¬ Pight

It has 5 different meanings in the OED
https://www.oed.com/search/dictionary/?scope=Entries&q=pight
COCA score is 3 in a billion.
OED has it being more common 0.7 in a million. It’s an intriguing play after SANER considering all the permutations of _A_ER, it makes sense.

I have no words other than “live by the two-solve, die by the two-solve.” Sea of green? I nearly drowned in green! I was goin’ under, glub, glub! Later, safer seemed safer than betting on wager, but then wader seemed safer than waver, which is where I finally wavered, much later! Whew!-
Drowning in a sea of green – too funny! I hate when I get in a rabbit chase like that!

Whoa, Iβve never seen the game let you play 9 guesses until you get the word! For me itβs given the answer when 6th guess is a fail.
-
I failed at 6 with rarer. Then I manually built answers 7, 8, and 9. A joke I do with my sibs. Makes failing more fun. π€©

Are you flying a Delorean through the space-time continuem? Do you have any spare gray plutonium on you? Ha!
-
My guess is the international time zone during your travels has changed your IP address, but doesn’t explain why it didn’t just give you a separate new game! Looks like you played 5 guesses in one game and holding off gave you 6 fresh guesses in same game while in new time zone. That’s my best guess!

I used that expression at pub quiz recently – surprised that the majority of team weren’t familiar, I therefore had to check its origin…
In the 1920s cigars were given as prizes at American Carnival games – and if you missed a win…… “close but no cigar”

Good morning Glenda. In Crete today, so earlier play (for me.)
-
Awesome! Enjoy Crete! That’s one place in Greece that I haven’t been yet.
Note to the travelers: If you cross the International Date Line going west (like I did when I went to Japan), your Wordle streak ends.
This is because you lose an entire day.
-
Oh, stop it Jeb – too good (brings such great memories of my trip in 2019 – pre covid, tho’ I never made it to Crete either)
I’m in a sea of green (envy)
