Not sure how many I’ve gotten on the first try but more than 15, I think. I was at 11 when they stopped tracking your stats without an account.
Favorite first guess win was on 9/27/24! 😎
I usually guess the same word first word until that hits and then switch it up. Sometimes I guess randomly and know a friend’s usual first guess so sometimes can eliminate some options, which is what happened today.
I did also use the Filter option for the first time today, which was great!

Newbie to 5Forks… Got it in 3 today, after I realized I could use the priors list to narrow my options! Only after finishing the puzzle did I learn they’re starting to repeat words!
Given they have a list of 3,000 common words, once repeats become more common, it will become harder to eliminate words based on that criteria. When all 3,000 are used, it’s back to square 1, essentially, with no advantage to knowing the list.

You are right Bobby, and one reason I update the “odds” at the top of the list each day. As we get to 50% chance new or repeat, the list has less use BUT, there is also an age factor that comes into play. So far all repeats except 1 have come from the first year (365 days) of play. So TBD on the utility of the list regarding date ranges.
Another thing could happen. Repeats could approach 75%, and then the list swings the other way on odds. Who knows. Lots of statisticians and pattern watchers here on Five Forks Wordle.

I also started with STEAL and used LAITY for my second guess. I did not think of LATCH which would have been less obscure.

I had the same 2 remaining, but I thought loathe was spelled as I just did, and didn’t think loath was a real word, so I got latch in 2

Prof. Mike’s list: SATER chosen by Richard (Maryland)I thought of 16 words (probably not all on WordleBot’s list) ending in -TCH,-TON, -TY, and -TIO. Most were PU, with some ranking low on the list: BATON #183,
HATCH #113, and BATTY #29. I had 4 non-PU: LATCH, NATCH, FATTY, and NATTY. LATCH seemed the most likely and it was.

Exactly. I never change my strategy even when I think there’s going to be a repeat.
Presume it’s not a repeat (or an add)… until it is.
It’s still almost a %90 chance that it won’t repeat.
