Love the interaction in this site too! Does any find some of the bot solutions a bit lucky? Today after its second guess there were almost 30 remaining words. Envoy was a very lucky guess. January 22 it had 6 remaining words and guessed right. February 7 it had 8 words remaining. Again a v good guess.

    1. I wouldn’t know. I don’t have a subscription; so, it wont let me know if I “beat the Bot”, but I bet I beat the bloody bot quite often, because I use this list. LOL.

      1. I don’t subscribe either, but after playing an interesting round, I often Incognito into Wordle, quickly play the same round, and the BOT offers an analysis.

I play in hard mode so reusing the E in position 2 was really a mistake. But DEMON left ENVOY and ENJOY, the latter was PU #478. Another example of new word triumph over PU word.
I find the FF list helpful in many other ways: looking at word endings, being reminded of similar words, and so on.
Thanks, Jeb, for the list and the After Party where we are among compatible players with no β€œlist-use-shaming”

    1. I’ve never seen REAST as a start word before. How does that work out for you?

      I start with ROATE.

      1. I use different words: REAST came from its resemblance to East’R in honor of the holiday. Different people on the Wordle Comment site come up with themed lists for a few days, a week, or a month. My most common solve is 4: with REAST it’s been 3,4,3,5 (FIZZY),4, and 4. ROATE is a great word, an anagram of the most often used letters in English: the top 10 in order are EAROT LISNC.
If you think you might like to follow a theme, a commenter who uses the name Documentalista posts the current ones every day near the beginning of the earliest ones. Wordle on!

        1. Thanks. I didn’t know about Documentalista. I’ll look into it.

I have the letter frequency sequence memorized in tiers of 5.

          EAROT, LISNC, UYDHP, MGBFK, WVZXQJ.

I keep a hand-written daily journal for all my Wordles plays.

I mark off the letters as a used letter board like (Wheel Of Fortune / Hang Man).

I used ROATE until I got burned with ?OUND, then switched to ORATE. I have an overall average of 3.61 (really average). Thanks for what you do JD.

        1. You’re welcome.

I was thinking about switching to ORATE actually.

It comes down to whether I would prefer to get “R” or “O” in the correct position.

When I look at the chart for all 2315 words in the original solution list.

R appears in the first position 105 times. O appears 41 times in the first position.

R appears in the second position 267 times. O appears 279 times in the second position.

          So, RO scores 384.
          and OR scores 308.

          That’s 76 green hits better.

However, I am not sure having the R in the correct position isn’t better for narrowing down the overall list vs. O in the right position.

I find matching the consonants position a lot more valuable than matching the vowels, because it tells you more about the word.

I tend find starts like ADIEU overrated for that reason. I would rather search for “R” than “U”, because it’s much more common.

          “U” is a tier 3 letter for me. “R” is tier 1.

          I digress.

Oh yeah! solved 04/5 in 2 guesses
average solve rate for April 3.4 (due to a 6 guess) March 3.65, Feb 4, Jan 3.6 – what are others folks?

I love that this site is so interactive, and we share our theories, frustrations, victories etc.

Personally i believe many of us would no longer be wordlers without it – Kudos Jeb !

I’ve just found this forum and love the interactive nature too. Is there a word for word obsessed people? I’m one of them. Took five for today. I do the hard version so couldn’t use an eliminator word.

      1. How about “WACKO”?

2 guesses! Congrats! What was the sequence and how did you choose? My solve rate is currently 3.4. My lowest has been 3.2.

my starter word is DOUSE (which wordBot indicates is strong – I have to agree) my next guess was ENVOY (high luck % according to WordBot)
my other 2 guess solve (using same starter word) was SOBER – not so much luck as I had 3 of the letters
my 2nd starter word is GAILY (which covers the rest of the vowels) but I rarely get to use it….

    3. I don’t know about last month, I would have to check my spreadsheet. My running lifetime average is 3.45. I would need to add another column to calculate my monthly average.

You must be pretty happy with that. mine has definitely improved since I found Five Forks 😊

    4. Glenda: Do you keep your own running average and/or is it in the Wordle or WordleBot stats? I don’t recall, but I also don’t focus on stats too much because they get broken when I bounce between devices.

        I’m so old-school Jeb – its manual
I love stats & just randomly had a browse on the WordBot this morning – cool analysis after my solve.
I was cruising round the site trying to find how I’d copy/shared the day before – (I do apologize for my gaff) & now can’t do it again…. sigh

my list of guessed but unused words is also manual! πŸ™„πŸ˜„

    5. OK, so, I checked my spreadsheet. I was slightly off. My lifetime average is 3.46 (when rounded to 2 digits) not 3.45.

My 30 day “moving” average is currently 3.13 (even after goofing up on today’s word). I had to add a column to my spreadsheet. I took the average number of guesses of the last 30 days.

Before and after CIGAR, I can’t tell much of a difference in my moving average. Although, I used to dip into the 2’s. I haven’t done so yet since CIGAR.

I don’t recall when I started using the Five Forks list, because it was a long time ago, but my average in October, 2022 (when I wasn’t using the list) was about 4.0 even.

    6. So, I played

      ROATE
      OLDEN
      ENVOY

      for that one.
