🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 HOLEYAbsolutely did not think HOLEY was a real word. Do you guys have some kind of a resource with insights into what NYT/WordleBot considers as “likely answers”?
Also, what is an “ADD”? I see some of the other comments referring to that.
-
Welcome to the After Party DG!
See Support > Tips & FAQs that will answer some of your questions. There’s even a glossary!
-
How do people know what is an “ADD”? Is there a canonical list somewhere of what words are considered by NYT and/or WordleBot to be “likely answers”?
-
🎭DramaGuy welcome to AP 🥳
🙋🏻♀️ For lists of previous used words, the elite option is right here at fiveforks.com 🥳
🙋🏻♀️We don’t have a list of the future NYT ADDs, and nobody wants that information. But, we do talk at length about possible future ADDs at the AP.
🙋🏻♀️ADDs the Bot considers at various probabilities can be found in the bot analysis each day. It’s free with ads.
🙋🏻♀️Many/most of us on here keep lists of possible adds we find from each other at the AP, from the daily bot analysis, from weighted bottles, and/or from our brains. We are nerdlers and we like it.
🙋🏻♀️ JD The CSO of the After Party site (Chief Stats Officer) = Next Level wordler information. Many of us have bettered our games because of the stats he shares with us at the AP. Any info found online about wordle, JD’s info is gonna be better.
🙋🏻♀️Stats: https://trendle.cloudbridge.com/stats
🙋🏻♀️Weighted bottles on wordletools uses wordlebot info to give approximation of word probability (58% is the highest): https://wordletools.azurewebsites.net/
🙋🏻♀️Simple searchable list of wordle words (original words + any played adds, this does not include future adds): https://www.wordunscrambler.net/word-list/wordle-word-list

Right, probably why I unconsciously listed the word as HOKEY.

Wordle 1,953 4/6
⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 RAISE
⬜⬜⬜🟩🟨 BETEL
🟨⬜⬜🟩⬜ LUMEN
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩HOKEYHOLEY – ADD – 58%RAISE leaves 17 OG NU, 45 ADDs, 20 YRs
BETEL is still the best filter.
BETEL leaves only LUMEN as an OG NU, but it has a WB% score of 45%.
I figure it probably wasn’t the answer, but I have limited access to my spreadsheet on the weekends. So, I play it anyway.
LUMEN leaves only ADDs: HOLEY – 58%, and YOKEL – 54%.
Not sure why HOLEY is higher than YOKEL, but I play the higher WB% anyway.
Not loving 4’s, but with 82 words to choose from, it’s not bad.
============================
This is a dog lying on the floor with his head up, but I’m not sure what breed he is.
-
Funny, I put HOKEY when I should have put down HOLEY.
HOKEY may be how I feel
about this word. -
For some reason I really like lumen. One of these days! 💡☀️
-
Me too. I think its more LEGIT than HOLEY, but it’s WB% is lower for some reason.
I don’t know who decides what words get which WB%. I am not sure if TB is involved or if this is just Wordle Tools guessing.
-
Even the bot gives LUMEN the lowest probability of all the NU OG words. Even lower probability than adds KVELL and WHELK. 🤷🏻♀️
-
I am almost certain that KVELL is significantly more common than LUMEN, at least in spoken words in the US, but TB may not be inclined to choose a word with Yiddish etymology.
-
That’s just BOGUS (a word that should be played lol)
-
-
I believe Wordle Tools is pulling the WB% from how the WordleBot weights the likelihood of words.
And I believe the WordleBot weights the likelihood of words based on their frequency of usage in the NYT.
-
And, to my knowledge, this is a guess on behalf of the WordleBot team and not based on any data given to them by TB
-
I don’t agree that KVELL is more common than LUMEN.
I’ve never used KVELL in my life.
LUMEN is a standard unit of measure for illumination. You can find it on any lightbulb that you purchase.
-
And WHELK? WTF is that?
I can see that they don’t write about how bright (in LUMENs) LED bulbs vs incandescent bulbs in the NYT.
It doesn’t make good copy and doesn’t sell newspapers.
-
I suspect you’re correct. I’ve heard that about NYT usage. But, how often can they be writing about holey socks these days? 🤔😂
-
JD, what? You never saw Sean Lock on ‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’ have his joke backfire on him and get cornered into eating 30 whelks during the show for charity!? … Clearly you’re not living right. 😉 … 😁
-
-
Picked up many a WHELK shell (and some live ones) on east coast beaches. Poor man’s conch.
-
Ok, I’ve seen them, but didn’t know what they were called.
To me, LUMEN is a more common word.
-
-
-
-
Lumen is an excellent word. Holey feels like slang or one a strict schoolmarm would slap you hand for using.
-
I just realized that YOKEL wasn’t a possibility, because I ruled out L5 with BETEL.
YOKEL would have been an unforced error

… … … …October Movie Marathon
Friday:Double Feature
Haunted Tales Weekend: BeginningKwaidan (1964)
– An anthology film of four tales of ghosts and hauntings based on Japanese folklore. While there are no bookends or bridges between the tales, and the only intro is the opening credit sequence, there are some shared themes worthy of exploration. Choosing to use studio sets over natural settings gave the filmmakers control over the stylized and sometimes eerie cinematography.IMDB: 7.9/10
Letterboxd: 4.2/5
RottenTomatoes: 91%/89%
Mike S: A: 7, B: 5.5Recommend? Maaaybe. … There is certainly art and history here. And it is highly rated. But at three hours for four tales the pacing sometimes crosses the border into indulgence. I mean, Creepshow (1982) did five tales in two hours. But this isn’t pulp horror. It’s more high art of slightly dark folklore.
Honestly, this film might be better appreciated by watching the four tales in multiple sittings with breaks or in sequential days. … In fairness, it did have an ‘Intermission’ title card in the middle.
-
👺 Kwaidan is on on the shelves and never watched… but even though subtitled, it’s on the bucket list now. Thx…
📱🤖 Last night finally watched Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die. I still think it’s a stupid title, but I gave it an overall rating of 7/10 on imdb. The first half of the movie was near perfect if you ask me. It took me awhile to place Juno Temple from Ted Lasso. Overall fun movie!

Mark- Seattle Pilots ?? since you said Seattle Pilots here’s a piece of absolutely useless trivia but I’ll torture everyone one with it anyway 😣 When I was a kid in North Central Ohio and becoming a Cleveland Indians fan, Jimmy Dudley was the beloved radio announcer. In 1968 after about 20 years of service , the organization did not renew his contract to the dismay of much of the fan base. In 1969 he became the radio voice of the Pilots and remained so until they moved to Milwaukee & become the Brewers. As if that wasn’t enough baseball trivia nonsense, utility player Chico Salmon of the Indians was selected by the Pilots in the expansion draft.

Thanks JD!
…………………….👀 Per usual, I scoured the 🤖 analysis for potential future ADDs. I found a new one at high probability: OGLER.
Given the birthday “dis-honoree” today, that timing is on theme. 🤮
-
Sure, glad I helped.
I ended up with a 4 today.
The only good thing is that this word can be crossed off a long list of possibilities for me.
I need OG NU words like LUMEN to be played; so, I can turn my 4’s back into 3’s again.
At least it wasn’t a repeat.

In re: LUMEN the 🤖 knows something we don’t know.
💡Possibly because it is plural—lumens—in common usage. I rarely see it used in the singular. 🕯️
