Haven’t had a good ol’ BS one in a minute.
Somehow BORED isn’t in the original or an add, but STREW gets in? I know what strewN is, what is strew. Get it outta here.

      🙋‍♂️

don’t quote me on this but i believe it might actually be a shrew stew made with a roux instead of just plain water. kinda frames it…and gives it a much more full bodied flavor. my recollection of that portion of the cooking class was called the framing of the stew with roux…aka strew. 🤷‍♂️

      hope that helps. 😉😎🤯

    2. BORED – 58% is an ADD.

      STREW- 54% is an ADD.

Based on WB%, I would have thought BORED much more likely.

      1. This has to be on some kind of exponential scale right?

        1. Good question.

There are a lot of words that are 58.0000%.

That tells me that they think those words are solid and will be the answers some day.

There are others that are 57.7%. What didn’t they like about that word?

There’s a lot of words that range from 54% to 58%.

There’s a huge dropoff when you get to the 37%-40% range then it’s a rapid descent to 2%.

I removed all words with less than 37% from my lists.

The words from 37%-40% are sketchy. I might consider playing 1YR’s over those.

PSHAW 40% is the ADD that has been played with the lowest WB%.

          I should graph these words.

    1. STREP has a 58% WB weighting.

      STREW is only 54%

I would have guessed STREP over STREW too.

Later discussion on this shows that almost no one uses this form of the word. STREWN yes. STREW no.

Almost everyone has known someone with STREP throat. Although STREP is a shortening of a much longer name for the bacteria STREPtococcus.

Recalling from Biology class, the coccus bacteria is one of the 3 forms of it. These little guys are circular vs (spiral or rounded rectangles)

We had the Snoopy Xmas album on vinyl when I was very young (I don’t recall the original name of it).

I’ve always been a Snoopy fan!

I had the Snoopy lunchbox, the Snoopy flyer, the Snoopy pencil sharpener…. You name it. I had it.

        1. Famed Snoopy phone?

          1. You know what! I didn’t have one of those.

Did it work? or was it just pretend?

          2. It was a real phone. The popular style was Snoopy standing next to Woodstock, Snoopy with his right arm (leg?) out holding the receiver. His arm was the switch hook.

I never owned one. I remember having a Peanuts lunchbox though (then a generic ‘baseball’ one).

And I still have my copy of Happiness Is a Warm Puppy.

I chose SEWER over SEVER (PU# 380) and SEDER (not sure it was on the solutions list). That led to the not-so-famous S*REW trap. T was the strongest consonant and STREW does not have the NSFW (not safe for Wordle) meanings that SCREW and SHREW have. It turns out that all of the words mentioned are possible solutions.
    Good ☀️/🌃 to all!

    1. I’m assuming there’s some jest here. But if SCREW and SHREW are not safe for Wordle then I am clearly late to be dragged to my shoe and hat buckle fitting.

      1. Pretty much joking now: I think there was more concern about editorial squeamishness early in TB’s regime.

    2. If those words are banned, they’ve gone too far!

      1. Thought some might think of Shakespeare’s Shrew rather than the actual animal. Second definition in American Heritage dictionary: “a woman regarded as an ill-tempered scold or nag.” Third definition: “Originally a brawling, turbulent, vexatious person of either sex, but now restricted in use to females…..” 🙂

RAISE left 8 OG NU words.

Ideally SHREW, SEWER or SHEER are the best guesses for OG NU words.

I went with SHREW which should have left only SCREW.

Well, I was SCREWed on this one with an ADD.

I have limited access to my spreadsheet on my mobile phone.

Looking back. ADDs: SEDER 56%, SHYER 54%, STREP 58%, STREW 54%.

I am not sure I would have changed my guess based on that group.

      Hi there!

The trailer alluded to a friendship between the snorkeler and octopus. This can be true! A dive master in Waikiki showed a group of divers I was in how a sea turtle always came up to him to be greeted and touched every time he dove. The turtle even found him even when he changed dive suits…by his scent. Incredible!

Thanks for the heads-up. Don’t have Netflix but will find a way to watch this.

    2. For a very so-so movie there’s:

      Sh! The Octopus (1937)

The full movie (all 54 minutes of it) is available for free on YouTube. Eventually the movie centers on two bumbling police detectives. Think a less charismatic Abbott and Costello, but more Costello and Costello.

To save time though you can just skip the movie and jump ahead to the what the movie is most known for. There’s a cool in-camera special effect that could only be done with black and white film.

      https://youtu.be/4m3Rea0H_p8

The effect is nicely dramatic here, though not original. It was used more artfully in Frederick March’s ‘Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde’ (1931) and the likely originator ‘Ben Hur: A Tale of the Christ’ (1925).
