I thought of SLACK before SHACK. With a coin flip situation I go for the first word I thought of if they’re both reasonably common. Though I also could feel it in my bones that it was going to be SHACK.
It’s my curse of the floating A. That and the fact I haven’t had a great follow up word after the floating A. SCALP obviously would have been better.

An adjective of ochre, OCHRY was the best filter word I could come up with (after testing 14 others 🤦🏻♀️). Ochry left 3 words and 1 group as the worst case scenario.
During 🤖 analysis discovered ADDs swain swang swank snarf snark to add to my list.
Another never used original word bites the dust (at least for a while).
Those adds were still possible in my game, too!! (steal scamp shack) but I thought shack was really the only guess left. Gotta be careful out there!

Scratching my SCALP, there are four solutions: SHACK and SMACK (NU) and SNACK and STACK (PU). I thought of going straight to my SHACK, but I risked not getting there before six. And surely didn’t want to wait a MONTH, so I got to my SHACK in time. Did not have to use my STACK of SNACKs.
Always good to hold some snacks back for a rainy day.

S is the 4th most common letter behind ERA for OG NU words.
S1 is the most common position.
It was originally EAROT LISNC, but so many words with OTL were played that the S and I were pushed up.
Really there should be a lot more words containing I than there are.
The fact that the S words are being played makes perfect sense to me.
What does “with OTL” mean
Pretty sure JD just means ‘with the letters O, T, and L.’
But I get you. … I had to scan back and reread when I thought ‘EAROT LISNC!? I think he worked on our back deck.’ 😁

That is the correct interpretation. Thanks Mike.
EAROT LISNC is the order of commonality of the letters back when Wordle started based on the original list of 2315 answers from Josh Wardle.
In the remaining answers 460 odd. Can’t remember now. It is EARSI OLTYN now.
So, S is more common now.

Scalp was the first word I toyed with (for quite a while) for my 2nd guess, but wasn’t convinced it would get me there quickly so I tried out a few others, but eventually went back to scalp. It did better than I hoped and left me with 2 NUs: shack and smack. I was lucky with my choice and didn’t have to smack my head.
I have SCALP and SLACK as choices for this pattern.
I am probably going back to SCALP next time.

You are kind. No-one seems to be saying the obvious.
What isn’t obvious without already knowing is that Hojy plays ultra-hard mode. They use no lists, not even the Five Forks list. … Not sure how they made their way to the After Party. But that’s another question, and we’re glad they did.
Unless I’m missing something else, the only issue I see is the plural PLEAS. And that’s a good set of letters and a good filter word if you’re hunting for vowels, as Hojy is want to do.

The bright yellow helps orient me as well. Until you mentioned the blue new color I never noticed the differently-colored half frame around the comment.
