Lucky start! Thought about doing PAGER for my 2nd guess, but opted for the 2315 PAYER to be safe. Swing and a miss. Then I really struggled between the ➕PAGER and the ♻️PAPER for my 3rd. I was afraid I might fall down the 🐇 🕳️ on this one. Got 🍀 again.

My other thought was gafer but decided to play what seemed the most common word. And of course, as it turns out, that word has two f’s 🤪
I try and avoid er words that are modifiers of other adjectives … and so far I’m too lazy to use the other lists which show probable Wordle words …

This made me appreciate the beauty of getting even one letter in the correct position in the first 2 guesses!
That road-to-nowhere feeling with first two guesses of goose eggs. But sometimes you get a green flash on 3!
That’s what saved me today!
Per the song… The road to nowhere leads to Ozzy Osbourne.
I don’t think I’d ever heard that song before today. My Ozzy knowledge only spans from Black Sabbath to just past the Randy Rhoads era.
Maybe it’s more pedestrian (no pun intended), but Road to Nowhere makes me think of The Talking Heads.
Not exactly sure where that road led to. Paradise? Oblivion? … Both?
Same. Talking Heads.
🙋🏼♀️ me, too. Talking Heads.

[Father Punch]
Too many 4s these days.
Beats my six (or worse )any day!
My one remaining Wordle goal relates to my 3s to 4s ratio.
I don’t want worse, but 5s or even 6s would be better. 4s don’t help.
For clarity, the Wordle art is Punch, the monkey, as a father, not a punch from a father, … or a priest with the unusual last name of Punch. 😁
I don’t get it
There’s a lot going on there. I knew that title and image could be asking a bit much. … I just wanted to circle back to make sure it all wasn’t giving off the message of paternal abuse.
A little while back there was pretty viral story of a monkey born in a zoo that was shunned by the other monkeys and ignored by its mother (due to a difficult birth and high heat at the time). The baby monkey was named Punch. It was given a big Ikea stuffed monkey as a companion. There were a lot of pictures of Punch cuddling with the stuffed monkey and dragging it from place to place. Eventually the group of monkeys became more accepting of Punch.
With the Wordle art I was giving Punch a continued happy story. I see an adult monkey lying on its back with its arms and legs in the air holding aloft something smaller. That’s adult Punch holding up his own baby.
Lovely!
Thanks for explaining.
We did of course get that story downunder but I hadn’t remembered that his name was Punch.
LOLZ —I was thinking exactly the same thing MikeS when I read ur grid art … thanks for clarifying 🥊👨🏻✝️

🟨🟩⬜⬜🟨 RAISE
🟨⬜🟨⬜⬜ EMPTY
🟩🟩⬜🟩🟩 PALER
⬜🟩🟨🟨⬜ CARGO
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 PAGER
This one was evil.
RAISE leaves 9 OG NU.
EMPTY is a burner word that would guarantee 3 on OG NU words only.
E1 rules out EATER. M rules out TAMER and HAREM. P rules in PALER or PAYER. T1 rules out TAKER and TAMER. Y rules out GAYER and PAYER. Ruling out all of those should leave WAGER.
EMPTY led to only PALER except that wasn’t correct.
All OG NU eliminated.
That leaves
PACER – 53%, PAGER – 58%, PARER – #454 – 41%, PAVER – 53%.
Most likely candidate was PAGER, but what if it wasn’t PAGER? Then, I only rule out the G.
I needed a word to rule out all the letters in position 3.
PARER was still a possibility even know it isn’t a first year REPEAT; so, I settled on CARGO, because it plays R3, C, G. (O is just a bonus rule out. )
CARGO gave me the G.
I hope the hard mode people survived.
I had to play 2 burners for this one!

Mt Doom explodes after the ring of power falls into the lava.
Mt Doom explosion – good one!
It was a #@&%#$# !!!
I’m glad you explained your reasoning for CARGO, as it seemed very random to me….
definitely an explosion (of green white & yellow)
Right, words like PARER and RARER (still unplayed OG) are very dangerous words.
The _A_ER pattern has probably led to a lot of people losing Wordle on the days those words appear.
I am not sure how I would play hard mode, but it would probably try to avoid these patterns until I’ve played a ton of consonants. I think that would be the key.
I think a consonant tells you much more information about a word than a vowel.
What do you think?
#CRYPT
That’s a good one.
A lot of high frequency consonants in that word.
R – tier 1
TY – tier 2
CP – tier 3
I agree – hence my playing single vowel/4 consonant words for a while ……
I find a floating E quite challenging – especially in position 5

Jeb, thank you for informing us about the significance of each day. I remember reading all the Tolkien novels I could find during summer vacation, on a hammock in the backyard, next to a blooming rose bush. 🌹
Today also would have been my mom’s birthday. She was born in 1943. ❤️
Jeb, would you please fix my typo?
I was looking in your perfectly spelled writing.
Then I spotted it. Payer > Pager.
My mother also would have been 83 this year.
She and I actually also lived in Maryland for a time when I was young.
Took a trip to DC with my children many years back and would occasionally just stare off in a daze at something familiar from my own childhood. … Cascading waterfall at the National Museum of Art cafe, totally zoned out there.

Yes, and quordle, four at a time. Repeats are a necessity, as you can imagine…
When I played Quordle, I feared words like RARER, RAWER, RAVER, PAVER , PARER and PAPER.
I think they played PAPER quite a bit.
The best part of quordle for me was learning words with more than four letters, of which I was already quite proficient with using! Ha!
In the end, I always played the same 4 words. CRAMP, FLINT, BUDGE, SHOWY. Sometimes, I mixed up the order and quite often only had to play 3 of them.

I couldn’t agree more! The threat of repeats is like adding ten numbers to the lottery! When my current streak ends I might go back to playing octowordle. At least I didn’t take it nearly as seriously. More like a warm-up before taking the mound for my daily wordle…

I have never played OCTORDLE or SEDECORDLE.
My winning percentage on QUORDLE is not as good as WORDLE, but, at times, I thought it was easier than WORDLE.
How do you guys find these other games? Are they more or less challenging?
🙋♂️
🤔 just curious…was there a rosin bag and spike cleaner also involved in this daily ritual? 😉😎
No, I wore gloves and went barefoot, though a ball washer and caddie woudda been helpful! Ha!
You really have to ignore the REPEATs. They only happen 10% of the time.
Play like you did before 2/2/26, and if it’s a REPEAT, it might be a 4 or 5 for you on that day.
ADD’s are more of a problem if you track them. If you don’t track the OG (2315) list, then it’s probably not a problem for you (ironically).
You survived! Well done.

I’m two days late and one leg short, but here’s a favorite Pirate Joke on my site GraphicJoke!
(Jonathan Livingston Seagull co-stars.)
Thanks for posting this joke, Jeb. My father used to tell it with a Yiddish pirate accent (think about that!) and it always got a big laugh. Nice memories.
I wondered if this was the first time “Yiddish pirate accent” was ever written on the Internet. I looked up “Yiddish pirate accent” on Google with the quotes, and nothing came up, so this may be a day for the record books!
Wow!!
That’s pretty cool.
I did the same test. No entries, yet Google AI offered a Reddit reference:
“A Yiddish Pirate Accent is a comedic, theatrical blend of a classic 1950s West Country British pirate voice (the classic “Ahoy, matey! Arrr!”) mixed with the inflections, syntax, and vocabulary of Eastern European Yiddish or Yinglish.” 🤔
I’m going to pin this and see if Google indexes this thread at some point. 📌
I’ve had plenty of Google AI responses that linked a source that did not support its claim at all, so I suspect that may have been the case here!

I thought of 16 words after ACTOR, obviously not the same as WordleBot’s 14. As I am trying to use words that have not been solutions, there were seven left that ended in ER. RADAR placed the two known letters and limited them to one each. Now to deal with the pillars. PAGER eliminated GAZER and GAPER and seemed the most likely. If this had been a repeat day, PAPER is (PU #35).
Good ☀️/🌃 to all!
Curious why you and others didn’t choose to use another R, C, V, Y or N?
And instead picked the G?
I actually considered rarer but for the fact it would be a complete throwaway turn if not a solve plus being a rare triple letter word. My c was eliminated early and my y & v were duds.
Ps- I actually missed figuring the g in play until the end. Luckily there were few options remaining by then.

Yes to the symmetry. Sun rising over the city ☀️
Ooh pretty image!
Your grid art looks like the sun shining all the way down to the bottom of a well.
“At noon on the summer solstice, there were still shadows in Alexandria. However, in Syene, rods cast no shadows, and the Sun’s rays shone straight down into the city-center well.”
