Also, D is a more common first letter as compared to W based on the original NYT List. It might have been just the luck of the draw, but I’m happy to have tied with the Bot.

Today would have been the birthday of a friend who died of suicide a few years ago, years after she moved away from our neighborhood. Since then, I’ve been trying to check on friends more often.
A few days ago, I saw someone wearing an Elmo t-shirt that asked, “Are you ok?” I thanked him for wearing it.

https://anagramer.org/scrabble-word-finder.In that page, I selected 5 letters and entered “OYICD?” That’s how I came up with YOICK. I was surprised that Wordle accepted it; I had no idea what it meant.
After YOICK, three unused words remained: DRYLY, FURRY, WRYLY.

🙋🏼♀️Don’t get too congratulatory … While I do read a lot … I also watch a 💩ton of shows & movies commercial free (dvds, vhs back in the day, pbs, and always ad-free streaming). Recently started youtubing again since learning of the yout-ube trick to avoid ads.
Still, there’s a 💩ton of product placement in said shows & movies… and even (gasp!) books.
Currently & finally watching Abbott Elementary. What ‘bout you?

The OG list was 2315 words minus the 6 words they removed initially when NYT purchased the game.
The “Answer” List includes the 2309 words (can you even play the 6 taboo words? I haven’t tried) plus exactly 10657 (what I call “playable” words). Maybe, “playable” is better, because most of these words will not be the “answer”. So, the “playable” list would be the sum of these word sets which gives you 12972 words (which includes the 6 taboo words). If you subtract those, then it’s 12966 words.
The “answer” list is ever changing since they have essentially removed 26 words in total from the 2315 OG (Original Game?) list. (I keep saying “Original Gangsta” in my head, because the comic is always there.)
Then, there’s the ADD’s. I have identified 653 total ADD’s based on the WB (Weighted Bottles / Wordle Bot) scores of 37% or greater. 56 of those have been played thus far. This leaves 597 ADD’s left.
Every single ADD is on the 10657 “playable” word list.
Every single ADD has a WB score of 40% or greater. (The lowest one being PSHAW 40%)
It remains to be seen if words 37%-40% will ever get played like METRE.
There’s a HUGE tier drop below 37% getting rapidly into scores of 2% or less.
Words like B__CH, P___Y, P___S aren’t even listed! LOL. (Why? They go too far!)
So, you could say the “answer” list (AL) is 2309 + 653 = 2962 potentially if they add all the ADD’s.

It also leaves about 17 ADDs, but my second word isn’t based on those.
I might mix in the unrepeated 236 puzzles to this new list also (which I have to check because there were days with 2 answers in a day.)
CRONY is still the best filter giving me a 3 in about 1/2 the cases unless its a REPEAT or ADD.
So, CRONY left DRYLY and WRYLY. There is also PROXY #213.
CRONY ruled out all the ADDs!
So with the two rhyming words, I had to pick one of them to guarantee a 4 (if it wasn’t a 3).
I went with the more common letter “D”. I didn’t see any trends on D or W to sway me away from DRYLY.
I wonder if anyone guessed PROXY today.

I can’t post on the General Feedback link. Why?
What I wanted to say is that the reason there has been a prolonged dearth of “repeat words” is that the NYT is taking words out of the expanded allowable guess (but not acceptable answer) pool and adding them to their acceptable pool. Since BLOOD on 8/29 the words USURY, RITZY, PEEVE and STREW have become acceptable correct answers.
I have induced a “remaining letter frequency” chart using your used letters and subtracting them from the Word Finder/Wordle totals for each eligible correct answer by letter and position. They also show total of non-answer words which have decreased by 4 as the 4 acceptable words were moved into the acceptable answer pool.
I know you don’t chart “future information” but this should interest your fans who do.

The long term average on ADDs is 11.4%The upcoming average for REPEATs is a bit higher than 10%.
The upcoming average for ADDs is multiple times higher than long run average for REPEATs.So, I don’t think the ADDs are having an effect on the REPEAT rate.
In fact, the ADD rate might be ticking up slightly.
We’ll see once we get deeper into October.

Thanks for the intel JD… I’ve been avoiding clicking on this link worried about seeing “under the hood” and you have validated my fears. Now I know. That website has a lot of cool tools & lists (WB) though I have been cautious. They really should put a spoiler alert because the terminology they use isn’t always clear.

To be honest, I wish NYT would encrypt their code; so, people couldn’t see their plans.
I would probably play the game the same way, but I would have just found a different word list to work from. Somebody would have come up with one and published it certainly!

Thanks for the heads up Don. Thinking of the daily After Party posts, I invoked a setting to “lock up old posts” after 14 days and forgot that General Feedback is basically a very old post with tons of comments. So I just removed that setting.
And to clarify, I don’t publish future-ish related information on the main lists, in effect, because I *only* post past answers and that’s all. The After Party is Mad Maxian where people use all kinds of tools.

Did anyone notice the MAX PARTY count (164) for JOIST? It was in part fueled by a long thread kicked off with JD’s two-fer, which was great for a J word.
I rate each party the next day when adding the answer with an emoji count:
25+ = 1
50+ = 2
75+ = 3
100+ = 4I probably need to upgrade those counts. Our parties have gotten bigger.
