I would have preferred SLICK to a REPEAT also.
They have over 600 words to choose from outside of the original word answer set with about 460 left, they should just play those instead of REPEATs.

GUILT should have given me a 2 or 3 in 9 out of the 12.

Its an ADD or a REPEAT then except that I can’t come up with an ADD.
This leaves only REPEATS.

Guessing any one of these would lead me to the answer.
CLIFF is not a first year REPEAT.
I went with the earliest play. FLICK.

The current repeat pattern doesn’t seem to care what order they were played in 2021. Right? Smile & Sandy were 3rd and 4th year repeats, right?

I don’t think order matters, but I can see some “clustering” of the red @’s if you scroll to year one on the CHRONOLOGICAL list.

If memory serves me right. 21 out of 23 REPEATs are all first year REPEATs.
So, given the sheer volume of first year REPEATs, it is the correct play.
Annoyingly, I’ve been faced with multiple first year REPEATs to choose from in the last couple of instances. The earliest REPEAT isn’t always the answer within that set.
It all depends on what letters you play leading up to that.

I believe that is the reason why the REPEATs are first year REPEATs.
A lot of people didn’t start playing Wordle in the first year.

And the first 4 months were only friends and family. Only 100 people were playing in the October website launch month. Adding the “share grid” made it go viral as people started texting friends and family their grids.
They didn’t have the After Party. 😉

She has done back to back ADDs a few times. So, just because the ADD was just played doesn’t rule out the ADD on the following day.
That said, there probably weren’t that many ADD’s to consider if any.

True dat! None of the possible 9 ADDs before blind would fit after blind. 🤖 gave me 2 more possible adds in the analysis to put on my ever-growing imperfect ADD list.
🙋🏼♀️ Have all of the ADDs we’ve had so far been on the 🤖s word list that we see during the analysis? I am assuming that logic is true, but how would we know?

You ask the right questions.
The answer is YES!!!! Every ADD so far is on the Weighted Bottles list with a score of 40% (PSHAW) or greater. (This low WB score for PSHAW confirms my dislike for that word choice).
You could probably push it to 37%, but it gets sketchy after that.

BTW, I noticed some new words on that list like TORAH 16%
I would cross-reference your possible ADD’s with this list and make sure it’s a WB score over 40% before committing to playing it.
I have found that a lot of words aren’t even on this list. I’ve eliminated a lot of words that way.

In answer to your question below…
The recent microtrend suggests there is a decrease in REPEAT rate and a massive increase in ADD rate.
We’ll see if that trend continues. If it does, we can see into her mind a little bit.
I still think she’s trying to bump up the ADD odds to 10% from 8% and bump down the REPEAT odds to 10% from 11%. This way, they’re both at 10%.
However, if long term ADD odds surge well above 10%, then it might signal that she’s heard the negative feedback on the REPEATs and is adding new words to the answer pool instead.

It’s like we lost power, but we still think the TV is going to work; so, we’re fumbling around in the dark looking for the remote control so we can watch that movie!

Yes, I’ve done that. 🤪 I have also tried to cook things in the microwave without power. It’s hard to do that kind of math: Normal life minus electricity equals what? Take a walk? Meditate? Bash a can of beans to get it open? Write with chisel and stone?

😜 most repeats are from year 1 (but not all). Will there be a gradual or sudden release of repeats into the possible word pool? Will there be any rule or pattern at all (e.g. could words that were just used 2 weeks ago be repeated)? Or are we 💯% cooking without gas⛽️💨?
Today the 🤖 gave me equal odds on all 3 previously used words with “knows previous answers” turned ON. Turned off, it gave the non-first year word an odd of <1% and the other 2 50%.
Right now, the 🤖 is programmed to think non-first year words odds are almost zilch. So, as more repeat word years are added, that programming will be changed and our rules/patterns will, too.

I kept thinking I would see a post about September’s theme, but not yet.
The three months of U words was the result of a challenge to himself by Prof. Mike that he would not use any words with U (his least favorite letter) as guesses for a certain period. He ended up losing the challenge, so he imposed a penalty on himself of three month using U words as starters. It turned out to be pretty interesting and others joined the U theme.
When I find out about Sept. I’ll post in the After Party.

Got in 3 out of 6. My two favorite starting words are TRAIN and CLOSE, and all 3 possible words were PU words. With only 4 days between PU words and recently back to back PU words, all bets are off. ANYTHING can happen!

Early repeats coming on strong. Repeat stats getting more random. I may need to remove the “LOW” odds signal and only go to “HIGH” if we get to 9 days.

Again, the pattern is irregular; so, your odds increasing after so many increasing days doesn’t really work.
I had the REPEAT odds at 7.3% yesterday.
Today REPEAT odds are now 5.0%, but that doesn’t mean that we wont have another one tomorrow.
ADD odds is now 40.0%. If I had thought of any ADD words to play today, I would have played one of them (probably).

I agree with the shift to low counts, the “LOW” and “MEDIUM” start to blend and just become the same thing.
However if we get to 9 or 10, a FLAG is warranted because, there is an upper-bound set by Tracy (or someone). The chances increase dramatically approaching 15 (max 16 so far.)
I think I’ll remove the LOW / MEDIUM.

When none of my first letters work, I have found that using a word containing both C and P has worked pretty well. (I’m just now realizing that those are my initials. Ha!) I was using CLUMP until it became a used word; now I use CLOMP. It was pretty lucky today!
Looking at CL___, the first word I thought of was CLICK, but that one had been used … and so had all the other words that would fit (there were only 6 or 7, I think). Of the used words, CLICk was the oldest. I think the next-oldest was CLUMP. Both were from Year 1. I decided to go with CLICK because I had thought of it first.

Mike provided the answer to Jeb’s question! I do think it’s unlikely that TEARS will show up. But I think it’s still possible since it’s not just a plural formed by adding “s” to the end of a noun.

STARE was the word I used after TEARY got used. Then STARE became a used word. I think I tried a few other words after that before deciding to stick with TEARS because I generally got good results with it. (STARE might actually work better due to the letter positions – I wouldn’t rule out going back to it.)

I recently did a study on AERST words.
The best position score was actually TASER. It would be an ADD, but its Weighted Bottle score is 51%.
Given the inflated chances on an ADD, you could score an ACE (Albatross if you prefer the golf analogy).

I’m glad people use DOILY! The word holds a lot of nostalgia for me because my mom had many of them around the house when I was growing up in the 1960s-70s (as her mom had before that). I even snagged a couple from home when I moved out because in my mind a dwelling place was supposed to have some, but I never really used them.

My experience with the word DOILY comes from the movie Reality Bites, where Troy said to Lelaina “you look like a doily.”

I reworked it on paper with one my favorite starting pairs, Slate-Orcin, which would have led to the same possible Repeats of Click or Flick and saved me a whole lotta time! However, I think we probably agree that “the joy is in the journey” of trying to figure out what word the inscrutable Ms. Bennett has selected for that day. 🙂

Not sure I can have the “LOW repeat odds” signal any more. But if we get to 9 days, HIGH will still make sense.

You can have LOW and HIGH repeat odds, but just let people know that the ODDs are NOT ZERO.
Long run average on REPEATs since CIGAR is now %10.8. (I think it will go down to 10%)
So, that is about 1 every 9 or 10 days, but with an irregular pattern.
So, you can have 16 days without a REPEAT or back to back REPEATs. Both have already happened.
