    Yay for a 2! 😎

    1. Way to go!

so many folk (close to half) had nada, zilch, nix for their starter word today…. unusual – but not, I guess, for a double letter add….

    1. Your today or our today?

      1. Glenda 🍀🦯🐇🎩 Avatar
        Glenda 🍀🦯🐇🎩

Your today JD – I’m the only 1 (as per usual) on my today at present
Tho having only just been alerted to Jeb’s dynamic real-time
‘Here Now’ counter – I have Antipodean company on the site – but not posting….. I wish more folk would join us regulars…..

        1. Thanks to your comment I have worked out what the here now counter is. Interesting!
          So many wallflowers!

    2. I matched only one letter “R”, because it’s a tier 1 letter R(166).

(Based on the 463 words remaining…)

      Y(117) and N(106) are tier 2 letters.

U(99) is a tier 3 letter. So, it’s not too rare.

Despite being tier 2 letters, Y and N are the last on tier 2.

      EARSI, OTLYN, UCPDH

So, I guess it’s not super shocking that many don’t have any matches at all.

BTW, the greatest number of possibilities for guess 2 on most start words is a match of no letters.

  3. I always check when an ADD or a REPEAT happens.

ADD odds are now 41.5% (2 out of 5)

Be sure to check the Weighted Bottles list for words over 40% (58% is max).
    https://wordletools.azurewebsites.net/weightedbottles?SortOrder=Alphabetical&submit=Submit

REPEAT odds are now 7.3% (1 out of 14)

    Taken together 48.8%.

    Chance that’s it’s an OG (2315) word 51.2%

So, still slightly better than even.

I would have been right there with you, but I won the tossup between runny and rummy. Even though I thought of rummy first, I decided to go with runny anyway, perhaps because N is more common than M?

IKR? I always play crony after nada in the slate row. I had nothing after crony. Runny was the only possibility I could come up with that used either a Y or a U vowel. Surprised runny wasn’t on my og list or the possible add list I’ve been making for the past couple of years.

Interesting Fran – I would not have thought Wonky a polarizing word
We have selections of wonky fruit/veg at the supermarkets (cheaper) – and can also get a Wonky Box delivery – so it’s pretty common-use Downunder

    ⬜⬜🟩⬜🟨 Saner
    🟩⬜🟩⬜🟨 Ronin
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Runny

After SANER, the Wordle Solver that I use offered only a handful of possible words. That doesn’t happen very often. RONIN was in the Solver’s “common” word list. RUNNY was in the Solver’s “other” list.

At that point, I should have used my own brain instead of relying on the Solver. Oh, well. Live and learn. 😏

    1. Agreed.

Since when is “RONIN” a common word? It’s not even listed on the Weighted Bottles list.

A 3 is always good anyway.

    🟩⬜⬜⬜⬜ RAISE
    🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜ RUMOR
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 RUNNY

So, we got one of those many ADDs today. Getting another tomorrow wouldn’t shock me either.

RAISE leaves only ROTOR and RUMOR.

I don’t have an O in. my puzzle at this point; so, I opt for RUMOR in hopes for another 2.

    No dice!

The good news is that the RU also rules out ROTOR.

So, it’s an ADD or a REPEAT.

The choices are RUDDY #612, RUGBY #1643, and RUNNY – ADD 58% WB

RUNTY and RUTTY are not even listed on WB.

The REPEATs are not first year. The odds on ADDs are 40% vs 8% for a REPEAT. So, RUNNY is the only choice even though I don’t have an N yet.

    1. Newb here. Is ADD a new word in the list of possible words, or an acronym I can’t yet parse?🤔

      1. An ADD is a word added by NYT to the original solution set of 2315 words when Josh Wardle sold the game to NYT.
