though me head was telling me snipe would be the oh so logical choice for the ptb, pokin’ fun at the barbarian hoardes snarlin’ ’bout the recent dreaded double re-use, aye just had to go with smote ⚔️ as it conjured up the dimly lit cavernous labyrinth that christine the benevolent guided us through yesterday with her astounding tales from the inner sanctum.
🤔 definitely should be a vr version of wordle that can be played from that boss location. 🔥🌋🤯

Being downunder I had never heard of hunting snipes.
Interesting!
But so mean to poor newbies -
Test of New highlight 5 minute “grace” period.

Tested the new “Clear” button. Worked.

Testing version After Party New Comment Counter v3.0 which has the aggressive code advancing LastVisit date. I should see 4 to 1 after 5 minutes.

just a comment on this from the peanut gallery. i would be cool with a manual rather than timed clear. five minutes can be tight if i’m drifting through the now plethora of comments, crafting responses with my rapier wit. 😉😴😎

The reason for a timer is there is no way for the site to know if you have browsed the whole view or not. There is not a good “I’m done” behavior it can spot.
There is a small “Clear” button at the top that I intend to make more obvious. But I can set it to 15 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour. How many people (besides me) return so often?

re revisits, i believe the advent of the “new” flag has created a simple capability for us to interact with older threads. that didn’t exist before and now new or unreads are being seen and read. before this we didn’t always know new entries existed unless they were directed specifically to us as a reply. i believe this in turn has generated more traffic and encouraged more dialogue among us all.

Better Call is a GREAT show!
The New counter in the After Party (was supposed to) only look back 7 days (as designed) and stops reporting new counts older than that. I wanted to avoid creating anxiety and work for people who think they need to clear all of those. So you are always riding a ‘current’ wave.
You will still get notified to any replies to your comments by email no matter how far back.

I think that when I was checking the yellows from a previous day the yellows from this day disappeared.

I’ve been testing some improvements, so that doesn’t surprise me, but I think I have a good version in place.
The new code does this:
1. Calculates “New” comments since Last Visit and highlights them. (As before.)
2. Creates a 5 minute “Grace” period that will keep all the “New” highlights showing, whether you leave and come back, or if you add posts. (This is new. Adding posts used to wipe out your News.)
3. After the 5 minute grace, your Last Visit updates which, in effect clears the “New” highlights. New comments after this will highlight.
4. There is a small “Clear” button at the top of comments that sets the LastVisit immediately (like #3 but immediate.)I’ll set up an announcement about testiing and feedback.

hey there boss man. i’m concurring with meg on this important logic flaw. after dropping my own post then drifting through all of today’s i pulled up the “daily list”, like i always do, to head back into yesterday’s collection of newbies and they were now all marked read. ouch! say it ain’t so. no bueno!

I am seeing the same problem, and taken out the code that was “clearing” each day of new counts. They should start building again with new posts.

i gotta go with “negative” on the testing theory. it’s all buggered up now (technical term) with the “new” flags disappearing on all days in the daily list without any activity from moi. at least that has been my experience using safari on an older (8.x) iphone.

I spotted the same problem today, and found the After Party list view was “clearing” the New counts too aggressively. I pulled some of the new code out that did that, and News should start building counts again.

S isn’t a bad letter either since that’s been underplayed also. (Why I start with RAISE)
The Weighted Bottle score is %58.
ADDs have a %33 chance (last I calculated it)
So, taking a SWIPE at SWIPE makes perfect sense.
