I’ve been so occupied with PokΓ©mon GO Fest the last few days that I haven’t been spending much time on my NYT games. I even lost my streaks in Connections and Strands! π€¦π»ββοΈ At least I didn’t lose my Wordle streak, which is now at 1081 and 100% wins.
I really did not want to see a β»οΈ today, but here it is. π

I neglected to wish a happy birthday to Sir Patrick Stewart. π₯³ πΎπHow he has never been named People’s Sexiest Man Alive is beyond my comprehension. At 86, he’s still hotter than most men half his age! π₯°
Harrison Ford isn’t so bad either, but he has been recognized by People, so… π€·π»ββοΈπ

π§π§π§π§π§STEAL left 24 possible, but only 4 unused: STOOP, STRIP, STUCK, STUNK. I went big with STUCK, which left 2 possible, both used. STRUT was used earlier this year, so I went with the much older STOUT.

Wordle 1,850 2/6
β¬π¨β¬π¨β¬ ROATE
π©π©π©π©π© STOUT
I thought today weβd have O and U as our vowels after days of As. But, I decided to go with ROATE – just in case. I really wanted to use ROUTE but hesitated.I was right about the O and got T, as well. I figured there had to be a U in the word. Thought of DOUBT but the O was not in the right place so that wouldnβt work. The word looked to be _ _OUT.
Hmmmβ¦thought of a word with two Ts. Checked the archive. We had it before. It was #65. That low number convinced me it would be used again.
I was right! And – I got the Beat the Bot badge for the third time this month!-
Excellent!

Plenty of double letter non-repeats out there btw -
Wordle 1,850 3/6
β¬β¬β¬π¨β¬ RAISE
π©β¬π¨β¬β¬ SPUNK
π©π©π©π©π© STOUT (65)RAISE leaves me with S in the wrong position and 29 words.
This not a good pattern for RAISE. (better for ROATE)
I was going to play STUNK but I decided on SPUNK instead. I should have played STUNK.
So, either play would resulted in ruling out ALL the possibilities.
There are only 9 words that donβt start with S. PUSHY and LUPUS have Pβs which is why I played that word.
There are better odds on REPEATS than ADDs. So, the next step is to find all the words that are REPEATS.
I could think of only before I consulted the list.
SCOUT (717)
SHOUT (1221)
SULLY (1676) which I thought was an ADD at first.
STOUT (65)
After looking at the list, I realize that I got them all!
βββββββββββββββββ
I was torn between SCOUT and STOUT.I thought she has been picking C words lately.
BUT BUT BUT!!
STOUT is the earliest REPEAT.
AND it has TT ( the double letter)
CANAL : AA
AVIAN: AA
CLACK: CC
STOUT: TTThe trend is on!

β¬β¬β¬β¬β¬ ALINE
β¬π¨π¨π¨π© ROUST
π©π©π©π©π© STOUTAll the words I could think of were repeats so I went with the one used furthest back.
Scordle says there was also SMOUT, which is unused but not a word I’ve heard before.
-
SMOUT isnβt on the 2315 list and its COCA score is ZERO.
No definition in MW.
OED has 5 definitions.
I think it suggested a poor guess. Good thing you didnβt play that word.

AROSE is a pretty good first word if you wanted to try that one.
Shockingly, it hasn’t been played yet (according to my records).
-
Yes, I looked back – Sean uses it semi-regularly – also one of the ladies on here but didn’t see who……
