I just found 5forks yesterday & used it for the 1st time today. Ooops, my brain thought that it gave the words still not used instead of the words used. Hence “deuce” when emcee was the obvious answer🤪. I’ve played 1,552 games and still make these silly mistakes. I lost one game—3/6/26 I got skunked with gunky. Been starting with SLATE since almost the beginning, before the BOT. I noticed very few people start with SLATE—is there some shade around starting with SLATE?

Welcome Christine! I am impressed at your track record. I played 169 days with a perfect record until the NYT migrated to their platform and lost my stats. I was so angry I stopped playing for a while. Eventually I surpassed my original streak but I’m nowhere near close to many of the players. I’m grateful to have found FF – the site and the camaraderie.
You asked about using SLATE. I used LEAST for a long time til Jeb suggested I change to STEAL – which is still in use. Like SLATE they are anagrams of LEAST.

EE present in 7 of those 13 words.
The only word with EE and a C not ending in ENCE is EMCEE.
There is also COUPE, but only one E.
Sorry, 16 for ROATE. (3 more words makes all the difference!)
