    🟩🟨⬜⬜⬜ Crane
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Curry

    Crane led to Color, Curry, or Curvy. I thought it might be Color, but that did not rule in or out the other two. Also, Curry had the highest letter by position score, not that Ms. Bennett is using that to choose an answer, but I’m glad I went with it. 🙂

    1. Awesome!

  3. Letter frequency analysis of the words left to be played in the 2315 list.
    ==============================================
    So, there is a new best starter word. It isn’t ROATE, and it isn’t ORATE either.

    Stay tuned..
    ==============================================

    Original Letter Count of the 2315 words (BY 5 LETTER TIERS)
    ============================
    E (1233), A (979), R (899), O (754), T (729)

    L (719), I (671), S (669), N (575), C (477)

    U (467), Y (425), D (393), H (389), P (367)

    M (316), G (311), B (281), F (230), K (210)

    W (195), V (153) // Z (40), X (37), Q (29), J (27)

    Current Letter Count of the remaining 531 words (BY 5 LETTER TIERS)
    ============================
    E (261), R (214), A (207), S (181), I (169)

    O (161), L (153), T (149), Y (137), N (130)

    U (118), C (104), P (101), D (94), M (76)

    G (70), H (68), B (62), K (50), F (47)

    W (45), V (32) // Z (10), J (7), X (5), Q (4)

    ===========================
    Now that the top tier is E R A S I , not E A R O T

    Anagrams of E R A S I are RAISE, ARISE, SERAI.

    Those would have the best “yellow” score. (Matching letters in any position)

    ================================
    What has the best “green” score (Matching letters in the right position)

    RAISE (1035) = 290
    ARISE (1603) = 264
    SERAI (playable)= 232

    =================================
    RAISE (1035) is the winner!

    1. I did a follow up analysis focusing on green scores.

      SANER (unplayed 2315 word)
      Yellow score is 993. (Raise is 1032) (39 points lower)
      Green score is 370. (Raise is 290) (80 points higher!)

      So, SANER might be better. Plus, a chance of getting it done in ONE.

      Thanks for the tip!

  4. This was the most analysis I have done for a Wordle in a while.

    I went into it convinced it was going to be a repeat and that it would probably start with C and have a U (based on recent letter patterns). I couldn’t go for a 1 in that case because it would be, well, stupid. Although, I’ll admit, I gave CRUST serious consideration.

    Alas, my trusty COBRA it would be. Not bad. I was right about the C, now I had to find one with a U.

    I scrolled down the FF list for all the repeats that could work, and I was left with CHIRP and CLERK. No U and neither seemed old enough to be reused, so I abandoned the repeat theory and went to my 2315 minus PUs list. CHURN and CURRY, both with a U. Now we’re in business!

    Of course I chose the one without the double. I should’ve known all along it was CURRY because that’s what I had for dinner last night! 🍛

    I’m happy with my 3, but most proud of my intuition being accurate.

    2. That 5 > 1 was amazing. That’s a great three! I think three’s are the best.

      Is that you or Dad catching the ball?

      1. Me. To this day I can’t aim a throw to save my life. (It’s a running joke among loved ones.) No one wants to be on the receiving end of my throws, but Dad was a trooper.

      I’m noticing that nobody else used FURRY. And JD’s post suggests it wasn’t an option even when the F had not been used.

      Is it not on the original list? Has a perfectly good word for appreciating cute animals been sullied that much by the costumed crowd?

      1. Mike S Avatar

        I notice now that JD had a C.

        1. FURRY is a valid guess which is unplayed and on the 2315 list.

          In your puzzle, I would have played CURRY over FURRY probably because the C is a tier 2 letter. F is a tier 4 letter.

          FURRY is probably as common as CURRY.

          Also, the “trend” has been earlier alphabetical words (for now).

      2. 🤔 ovate…vhatevah do you mean by zee costumed crowd?

        (been trying so hard to use that word in a sentence 😎)

        1. Mike S Avatar

          My frustration with my lack of success this month is showing today.

          Since I missed that JD had a C in his second guess, I wrongly took his stats as confirmation that FURRY was not on the 2315 list.

          In my bafflement I connected the omission of FURRY to the only potentially controversial association I could think of, the Furry community of people who costume themselves as furry, cartoon-like characters and attend conventions with other like-minded Furries.

          But, I was wrong, so my weird question is essentially moot. 🤷‍♂️

          1. There was a CSI episode that came out in 2003 about these Furry people.

            It really freaked me out!

          2. Mike S Avatar

            JD, it’s not my scene either. But to each their own.

            I definitely don’t have anything against cosplay in general. At the local comicon I’ve cosplayed as the fourth Doctor (Doctor Who), including a 14′ scarf knit by my daughter; Mike Nelson, second host from MST3K; and my favorite, Torgo from the horrendous B-movie Manos: The Hands of Fate, which I don just for the one or two people who eventually recognize the character. 😁

  9. Wordle 1,830 3/6

    🟨⬜⬜⬜⬜ ROATE
    ⬜🟨🟩⬜🟨 LYRIC
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 CURRY

    ROATE left me with 21 words to choose from.

    LYRIC is my standard second guess because there are 7 L’s, 9 Y’s, 10 I’s and 8 C’s left in those 21 words.

    When you’ve eliminated A, E, I, O from the puzzle, that pretty much leads you to the U (and there were 11 of them).

    LYRIC left me with CURRY and CURVY.

    Since the trend has been the earliest alphabetical choice, I went with CURRY and the trend held.
