#1 VOICE – Just had a feeling about it… Good thing! I thought those letters gave me a good foundation. But then when I thought of which words I could get…🙄 I did use the filter but that was not much help. I was convinced that the word started with E but where to put the I and O? Every word I thought of didn’t work. EVOKE? V was eliminated. Does the word end in I?
#2 ENOKI – Look at that! Three green letters! I tried EMO?I in the filter. Zilch! Oh! But then I saw it –
#3 EMOJI – Good grief! I’m amazed I got it in three tries!

  3. My 2nd guess was stupid. I immediately got swept up (yet again!) thinking Tracy did something cool for Juneteenth and I entered it before thinking it through or even checking if it was PU, which it was and I knew that! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Oh well. Still a good solve in my book.

  5. In regards to ADD’s.

I figured out from Wordle Tools, that there will be about 4 new ADD’s in the next 30 days.

Let’s hope these are used instead of REPEATS (but probably not).

So, that’s one ADD every 7 or 8 days.

    ================================
If Tracy was going for an overall rate of 1 ADD per 10 days (like it was originally), she’s currently 5 words behind.

She’s got some catching up to do!

The REPEAT rate is one REPEAT every 9 days currently, but she’s about 4 days off of the pace of 1 REPEAT every 10 days (like that was originally) since the last REPEAT was “BREAK” on 6/12/26.

    1. Thanks, JD. Love these kinds of updates.

      1. You’re welcome.

More to come as it evolves.

I made some more discoveries today regarding green scores on starting words. I’ll explain more next week.

I had to choose between EMOJI and EBOOK both were in the ADD category.

      1. Elaine Rau Avatar
        Elaine Rau

        Hi JD,

I did not realize until I saw the other posts that EMOJI was an ADD!
EMOJI showed up on the Wordle Solver – Answer Helper Tool at tryhardguides.com, but EBOOK did not.

This afternoon I did a search for the expanded Wordle answer list. This took me to WORDSRATED at https://wordsrated.com/solvers/wordle-words/ ncludes EMOJI but not EBOOK.

The expanded list seems to be somewhat secretive, so do we know where to see the definitive Expanded Wordle Answer List?

        1. Lucky for you EBOOK wasn’t on your list. So, you didn’t consider it anyway.

When I analyzed it for frequent use, I found EBOOK to be more commonly used.

That actually surprised me since people use EMOJIs all the time.

    ⬜🟨⬜⬜🟨 ROATE
    🟨⬜⬜🟨⬜ OLDEN
    🟩⬜🟩⬜⬜ EPOCH (170)
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 EMOJI (ADD)

So, I guess since this is the Wordle anniversary, she decided this is the perfect day for the ADD.

ROATE narrows it down to OLDEN, DEMON and FELON.

Any of the 3 would have led to the other 2.

The tiebreaker is the L in OLDEN which is a tier 2 letter. This gives me L, N, D off the board.

After OLDEN, I eliminated all 3 unplayed 2315 words.

So, it’s a REPEAT, right? (wrong)

The only REPEATS that work are

    EPOCH (170)
    EPOXY (280)
    GECKO (325.2)

Guessing EPOCH is the earliest REPEAT and certainly would have led to the other 2.

Now, C, H, P are off the board and the REPEATS have been eliminated.

Now, it has to be an ADD!

The only ones that work were.

    EBOOK and EMOJI

    EBOOK COCA score is 2389
    EMOJI COCA score is 382

If we recall LORIS, another ADD. It’s COCA score is only 137.

How much does Tracy care about word frequency.

Finally, I had a hunch about EMOJI. I was correct.

This puzzle was the most challenging in a while. I am not disappointed in a 4 score at all.

    Thank you.

    1. I replied to yesterday’s post so you don’t accidentally scroll down and see the answer (in case you’re still playing)

      1. Comments with two or more links go into moderation. That’s fine. It just helps avoid spam.

      2. I consolidated that list by removing all the PUs and organized it for quick scanning. It made it much easier for me to spot potential guesses.

        1. I did the same thing. Every day I enter in the Wordle game number for the played word and then resort the list. That way I keep track of all the played words which allows me to track the ADD’s and REPEAT’s while simultaneously maintaining the list of unplayed words from the original 2315 list.

As a result, I don’t even refer to the FF list anymore, because it’s baked into my list.

    2. Melinda Avatar

My my, some serious Wordler’s here!
JD, what is a COCA score?

      1. English Corpora website allows you to scan any word vs all written materials (books, newspapers etc. ) to see how many times per billion words a particular word is used.

This allows you to see how common a word is.

When you have to make a guess between 2 words, quite often, the more common word is the answer (but not always!)

        1. Funny thing was, I hade AROSE on my list of starts before even noticing that ARISE hadn’t yet been used. When it came up I was surprised. Sometimes I can be slow that way.

          1. I am finding that ARISE, AROSE might be better start words than ROATE and ORATE based on the unplayed words left on the 2315 list.

I haven’t finished my analysis yet but the whole letter frequency chart is going to change.

    1. Welcome to the After Party Lyla!

    2. Lyla,
We were thinking alike : my first word was ANNUM, just giving a floating M. EMOTE came to me right away, it was not PU, and it complied with EAROT LISNC. Finally I decided to try it, even though I doubted it would be a solution. EMO** just did not make sense, until I had a head-slapping moment. New word(s) added recently…what might be a new word? Good ☀️/🌃 to all!

        1. Great result for a bad starter word (which I know you didn’t pick)!

          1. Well, no…It’s the theme word from Prof. Mike’s group in honor of Wordle’s fifth birthday. One alternative word suggested was QUINT, so I decided to go with ANNUM.

There is a good article about Wordle in today’s NYT :

            https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/18/upshot/wordle-hard-mode.html

If you can’t access it, reply to my comment. I’m pretty sure my subscription lets me send links to others.

        2. I tried to access the article, but since I’m cheap, I don’t have a subscription to the NYT (or the games).

I must apologize, I thought your group was all starting from the same word.

          1. We usually do, the extra guess word came from another Wordler who often plays with our group word.

            Try this link:

            https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/18/upshot/wordle-hard-mode.html?smid=url-share

            Try this link

        3. Same problem for me as before. I can’t read anything from nytimes.com unless I cough up money.

          1. I find this extremely annoying since NYT is always pestering me about using my benefits as a subscriber, blah, blah….
I will contact their Customer Service (probably on Monday because they seem to have a skeleton staff of newbies on weekends, let alone holiday weekends!)

      2. I have a login which I once used but forgot the password. Now, I can’t reset my password without having to give them money.

I’m probably better off, because if I had a games subscription, I would obsess over all the games especially Spelling Bee where I can’t set it down until I get Queen Bee.

I don’t have time for that given all the other games I already obsess over.

    3. Nice job!
