Wordle 1,823 4/6
β¬β¬π¨π¨β¬ Cleat
β¬β¬β¬β¬β¬ Rosin
β¬π¨β¬β¬π© Payee
π©π©π©π©π© Amaze
I decided to try 2 first guesses that havenβt been Wordle answers yet that still contain the most common 10 letters in Wordle answers: Cleat, Rosin. This led to Amaze, Gaffe, Payee. On the letter by position chart at real-statistics.com, Payee had the highest score and would rule in/out the other 2, but that wasnβt it, which left Amaze. I should have looked for a first guess that ended in E, my usual strategy if there havenβt been any final E answers recently. If I had started with Crane and Toils, the only word not on the PUL would have been Amaze. The quest continues!
Excellent process despite the 4

6 points!
Luckily, my start gave me that helpful M. Then I was toying between MEATY and AMAZE, and I chose the one that most appealed to my growling tummy, though BACON was what it really desired, alas, it wasnβt in the letters.
Iβm AMAZEd that my chanting didnβt work today, but still pleased with my solve.

Of course, I go with the one that has the more common letters L, S, H rather than the AA and a Z, and it was wrong.

STEAL and CURDY left 22 possible, with 14 already used. Of the 8 left, MAVEN, was also a perfect filter. It left IMAGE (already used) and the answer.
i had two rock solid winners lined up in my head for my 3rd guess and when the first one didn’t hit i immediately pumped in the second one (4th guess), completely missing the fact that the “a” was not going to be in the second position. π€·ββοΈ looks like dunce and gaffe were appropriate choices for this round. π

that’s me, staring at the obstacle course wall i have to get over.
side note: i rolled the π²π² and veered from my usual starter of creek today on the off chance that yesterday’s letters might reappear in a different order.
i did take a long, cursory scroll through the full chronological list of answers and found one example of a full reuse of the prior days’s letters, skate and stake at 1163/1164.
another interesting one off was rover and overt at 1039/1040.
so, are we on the BRINK (369 06/23/22) of a new FIELD (381 07/05/22) of STUDY (529 11/30/22)?
Wordleology? π
I believe that FIELD is called βoverthinkingβ Wordle coincidences π
π ahhh, i wouldn’t sell it too SHORT (1600 11/05/25).
from an it/programming/database perspective the one THING (944 01/19/24) we CRAVE (590 01/30/23) is data. i’m always on the lookout for patterns. now that this collection is up to 1,823 we have some to work with. one of the many things i really like ABOUT (738 06/27/23) jeb’s app is the simple layout. with monospaced text in column format. my eye can easily scan the result list.
i came across QUITE (1124 07/17/24) a few example of THREE (924 12/30/23) letter repeats, and some interesting patterns like a collection of words ending in “y”.
one OTHER (247 02/21/22) i unearthed was ROGUE 145 11/11/21 and ROUGE 156 11/22/21, same letters 11 days APART (979 02/23/24).
co-inky-dink? perhaps, but i THINK (882 11/18/23) not. π
I think that field was started in the first week that Wordle started. Just look at all the websites dedicated to the game (including this one).
What’s interesting is all the different takes on what the optimal starting words should be.
They all come to different conclusions.
Great image take!
