{"id":46,"date":"2008-11-04T20:57:41","date_gmt":"2008-11-04T20:57:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fiveforks.com\/mcc\/2008\/11\/04\/through_the_eyes_of_a_jew\/"},"modified":"2008-11-04T20:57:41","modified_gmt":"2008-11-04T20:57:41","slug":"through_the_eyes_of_a_jew","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiveforks.com\/mcc\/2008\/11\/through_the_eyes_of_a_jew\/","title":{"rendered":"Through the eyes of a Jew"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: center\">Through the eyes of a Jew<\/p>\n<p>Behind the blur of tears<\/p>\n<p>All they can see and feel are a child&#8217;s fears.<\/p>\n<p>A gentle smile washed away<\/p>\n<p>As everyone finally knew<\/p>\n<p>That no one liked them because they were a Jew.<\/p>\n<p>With a point of a finger<\/p>\n<p>They would hold their breath<\/p>\n<p>If they were given life or death.<\/p>\n<p>At night cries are heard and guns are fired<\/p>\n<p>Days and days go by<\/p>\n<p>As the prayers are unanswered of not wanting to die.<\/p>\n<p>A happy couple never to be reunited<\/p>\n<p>As the only place they know each other is in their heart.<\/p>\n<p>And sadness come when families are torn apart.<\/p>\n<p>Decaying bodies are walked over<\/p>\n<p>As children think they are just asleep<\/p>\n<p>And lay next to their parents crying without a peep.<\/p>\n<p>More crying comes<\/p>\n<p>Arms are raised in the air<\/p>\n<p>As they felt someone care.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You are safe now&#8221;,<\/p>\n<p>The words ring to their ears<\/p>\n<p>As they will no longer fear.<\/p>\n<p>A happy family inside their home<\/p>\n<p>And their sore feet and boney legs<\/p>\n<p>Carry themselves to a place to beg.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Your job is done and you did well&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And now you&#8217;re through&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Through the now closed eyes of a Jew.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For language arts we are learning about the holocaust. For a project we had to make a collage and write a poem about it.
