Butter an 8-inch pie pan. In a large bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, baking powder, nuts, egg, lemon juice, vanilla and salt. Stir in cinnamon to taste. Batter will be thick. Spread in prepared pan and bake 25 minutes in oven center. Cool and serve warm or at room temperature. Top wedges with whipped cream or ice cream.
