Cut off tops, remove seeds and core. Cut into rings 1\/8 inch thick. Dip rings in a mixture of crumbs, salt, oregano, peper and parmesan cheese, then in egg beaten with water and finally in crumb mixture again. Chill about an hour. Fry rings in 1\/2 inch of hot fat (375 degrees F).
