Split them in half lengthwise, picking out as many seeds as possible with the tip of a paring knife. Dice tomatoes into 3\/4&#8243; cubes. Wash basil leaves. Shake them dry &amp; tear them by hand into tiny pieces. Over a hot charcoal grill, grill bread on both sides. While still hot from the grill, rub one side of each slice with the mashed garlic. Spread over it the tomato &amp; basil, sprinkle with salt &amp; a grinding of pepper, &amp; top with a trickle of olive oil. Serve at once.
